I'd think the name on the building would incent them to write harsher articles as it is having a serious impact on attendance. The only thing I can think of is that since Siena does move quickly (in admin time) to resolve the problem, why pile on. UA has stuck with Brown well past his expiration date IMO. Because Siena admins put the screws to them...can't say anything. Hell, they took you fans to task and still nothing negative on Mitch. Think about that...they went after die-hard supporters of Siena and not a word while your program burns about the man running it now for 3 years.

Albany is sort of screwed with Brown—the parallels between Brown and Marist Dave Magarrity are striking.. both won their conference twice in early years of coaching careers with players well above rest of their conference ( Smits and Wilson) both had a few crappy years but generally win between 10 and 20 games… never really stinking but never really good either..Those types of coaches are hard to get rid of—as evidenced by Magarrity’s 20 years at Marist… No I think Will Brown has another 10 years or so left at UA to torment and tease Bob87

If Brown takes the high-road and uses the typical coach speak, none of this is an issue.
"the record is what it is, we have to get better, we have to beat the teams in our conference to get to where we want to be"
I did think Iorizzo was a little rough yesterday, but unless you're Bill Parcells, you can't really get away with fighting the media.

And trust me, if Mitch won 15-16 games this year, he wasn't going anywhere. It takes a 6 win season for these guys to see the light. As for Brown, he definitely overreacted. He's clearly aggravated by his failure to beat the 3 teams he needs to. When you're a good team and go 2-22 against your main competition, that question wasn't out of line. Like Boogie said, turn on your "coachspeak," get out of there, and call him an A-hole over dinner with your wife.

My biggest fear was going 15-16... though the rumors were Mitch had to have a winning season... if he went 16-15 (yeah it's only one game better) he would have had a winning season and a chance to come back. No Siena coach has ever survived three losing seasons. If anyone would have it would have been Lanier since he went to two postseasons and one losing season was an NCAA season and MAAC title.

Now, we seem to "know" it is a done deal, but do we really? Does D'Argenio believe he sees improvement in the play recently? That is what really matters. Until the call is made can we really be sure?

I don't think it is a done deal. Just the other day John was saying he would let Mitch take a look at the use of transfers. Now that may be coach speak but as of right now Mitch is the coach. All we can do at this point is state our case through words and actions. If the admin listens to its fans, we will have a new coach. If not, I'll have to take a year off from Siena, at least.

Gorvy, if Mitch is here next year... I will delete my account from this board. I will totally wash my hands of Siena. And I think 90% of the fanbase would too. And there's no guarantee I'd even come back when Mitch was eventually removed. These aren't empty words either. I'm that fed up with this coach. Even if Lanier came back I would have come back - not now.
Now think about what I just typed.. Mitch has one year left on his deal (can't recruit anyway) -Siena is losing millions of dollars.. bringing Mitch back would be the equivalent of giving the program the death penalty. You bet your ass this is a done deal.
Siena is NO MOTIVATION for keeping him. But PLENTY MOTIVATION for firing him.

I hope you are right. But as far as I am concerned until I receive a PM or have a conversation with someone I trust is in the know, Mitch is still the coach. Keep in mind this had already happened by this time under Lanier.

Let’s settle this right here and now I guess no one knows 100%- but I can say unless Siena wants to de emphasize basketball – cut the budget , move back to the Arc become St peters- redo the 5 year plan—Mitch MUST go. Attendance is plummeting. Siena is getting 1000- to 1500 no show season ticket holders a game- if attendance continues to dwindle- next to go will be corporate sponsors- who wants to be associated with a losing program or product? Saints alive donations are dropping and will continue to free fall as many of the premium seat holders do not renew( as many as 30% of them aren’t showing up anyway) I had one premium seat holder ( who has 4 tickets) tell me he can’t even give his tickets away In short Mitch has soooooooooooo alienated the fanbase- no way Siena can bring him back without altering their long range plans for division one basketball and their commitment to it Its over Bill—Mitch B is not coming back period
