Although I think there are much better coaching choices, no one can deny that JP is quick witted a fountain on information, and an excellent anecdotal conversationalist. That will bode well for him in media. Many other coaches have gone this route and if he chooses to test the waters thus way and has an opportunity to do so he'd be kind of crazy to pass it up IMHO. Who is using your identity? Doesn't pass the hate test. Wrong. I have said in the past that Jimmy is quick witted, stores and is able to impart tons of information. I have also said I understand his 'off the rail' behaviors at times as I too have adult ADD and can easily recognize it in him. IMHO...successfully managing coaching a D-1 basketball team, (and by that I mean being greater than .500 at least half the years you have been doing it, and winning championships or making post season-not pay to play appearances at least 1/3 of the time you have been doing it) at this level} is not his strong suit. I have also publicly recognized his attempts at minimizing the sideline circus act for as long as they lasted. But if by hate you mean that I NEVER thought he was the CORRECT choice for THIS PROGRAM...yep, you are correct.

Its not bad, but when you aren't setting the world on fire maybe spend more time recruiting and taking care of your own team. It's a weekend after the season. I had a bigger problem with him going to Maryland before our MAAC semi. This is on his time and all eyes and ears are focused on the NCAA tournament this weekend. Many coaches will be at these games as well. I see no problem with this at all. Do you have the same issue with Bruce Pearl. His Auburn team finished 11th in the SEC and that was his best finish since he has been there. This gig is not unusual, it's on his time and can only be a good thing for Siena. Is there a critical AAU tournament you want him at this weekend? I'm not being a smart A$$ here..I really am wondering when is it his time and when is it Siena's time...at almost a half million a year what are Siena's time expectations of him...

Depends what your definition of "appearance" is - I personally like Mark Thomas suits (although the guy that fits folks in the store could use a refresher course) so his attempts at no-cost sartorial splendor, i.e., his "appearance", are not being questioned. His "appearance" on national media during the NCAA tournament is another matter and fair game, IMO, as he more often than not comes up short in our local market, especially his post game pressers where his Mark Thomas duds "appear" to be needing to be pressed again and again and again (you would think throwing himself under the bus every so often would remove some of the old wrinkles, but it doesn't seem to). I certainly hope that his preparation for each game he is chosen to comment on goes beyond the preparation he "appears" to have put forth for many Siena games, just sayin' the folks watching might just see through the charade....OBTW, if Siena let him go now would the BIG(?) $'s CBS is tendering offset some of the buyout? - all you lawyers, feel free to jump in here.... Say hello to the biggest snowFLAKE in sienahoops! 🙄🙄🙄 Hello !!

Fair question, but that's totally different from critiquing a guy for appearing as a speaker in the studio for a weekend of BB games. For which the school gets some level of exposure. Edit: Sorry - I think I misunderstood. I think somebody said here or on the MAAC board that he is considerably under $500K. I would certainly think that Siena does not expect him to be on the clock 24x7 or every weekend in the off-season. And, this could be also be considered a good opportunity to discuss scheduling, other 'coach-talk' (that I would not be aware of) and even not a bad thing for recruiting.

If JP can make it in the biz, I wish him well.

Sorry guys, my guess is that John D. And the rest of the Siena power brokers see this as a great opportunity for the school and a value added from Jimmy.

Quite sad to read many of the posts on this thread- the usual suspects bringing personal attacks to an even lower level then I would have imagined.

I said it before-the people who have these little hateful rants ..are about satisfying their own ego. And do they offer solutions? No! Just more rants! Sadly, that's our snowFLAKE society today! 🙄🙄🙄

While not a fan of Pastos , his recruiting, player development or game coaching, the season is over. Let him try the broadcast booth. Perhaps we will get lucky. And yes gets the Siena name out there.

Here is the solution...the guy in the head chair making over 300K a year is the one who is supposed to come up with the solutions for recruiting, disciplining and creating a successful team of young men who graduate and become successful adults.

We've been talking the solution for a few years - show you and your pillow mate the door, hire a new coach and let's start a real rebuild. My ego, formed in the light of being a proud Siena grad, began dying when Fran left - nothing, absolutely nothing to prop up an aging ego left in the Siena Basketball world. Folks at my gym see the addition of JP to the CBS Weekend NCAA coverage as bringing a clown into the show - hard to disagree with that view. Seeing him as the image of Siena hoops is not exactly a comforting thought.
