The fact the people are bashing Jimmy's appearance is pathetic! #snowFLAKES Depends what your definition of "appearance" is - I personally like Mark Thomas suits (although the guy that fits folks in the store could use a refresher course) so his attempts at no-cost sartorial splendor, i.e., his "appearance", are not being questioned. His "appearance" on national media during the NCAA tournament is another matter and fair game, IMO, as he more often than not comes up short in our local market, especially his post game pressers where his Mark Thomas duds "appear" to be needing to be pressed again and again and again (you would think throwing himself under the bus every so often would remove some of the old wrinkles, but it doesn't seem to). I certainly hope that his preparation for each game he is chosen to comment on goes beyond the preparation he "appears" to have put forth for many Siena games, just sayin' the folks watching might just see through the charade....OBTW, if Siena let him go now would the BIG(?) $'s CBS is tendering offset some of the buyout? - all you lawyers, feel free to jump in here.... Say hello to the biggest snowFLAKE in sienahoops! 🙄🙄🙄

Wow...
I can understand criticizing the guy during the season, but this is really not a bad thing for the program. Not saying it is huge but they will mention him as being the Siena coach and, no he can't continually plug us.
Do you guys really think this is a bad thing? That he really should be doing something else now? I hope nobody posts on this board while they are on company time.

Its not bad, but when you aren't setting the world on fire maybe spend more time recruiting and taking care of your own team.

I'm in the camp that anything that gets the Siena name out there is good thing, I just wonder though does Gary Williams and Maryland and Championship get uttered more than Siena?
I'm also wondering is this an audition for another gig when and if things go south next season?

That's why they have him - he won a national championship with them. But we will mentioned more than all 10 other MAAC teams combined and that's a good thing.

Its not bad, but when you aren't setting the world on fire maybe spend more time recruiting and taking care of your own team. It's a weekend after the season. I had a bigger problem with him going to Maryland before our MAAC semi. This is on his time and all eyes and ears are focused on the NCAA tournament this weekend. Many coaches will be at these games as well. I see no problem with this at all. Do you have the same issue with Bruce Pearl. His Auburn team finished 11th in the SEC and that was his best finish since he has been there. This gig is not unusual, it's on his time and can only be a good thing for Siena. Is there a critical AAU tournament you want him at this weekend?

I'm 100% with you on your post so don't take any of this as combative: for those of you wanting Jimmy to move on - wouldn't seeing him flourish in a career change cameo encourage that? That's good for the overall agenda. And for everyone else - isn't being on a national platform with literally every college hoop fans' eyes on a massive coup from an exposure and recruiting perspective? Regardless of anyone's stance on whether or or not you think JP is the Saints' coach of the future, I couldn't possibly see this as a bad thing. Relax everyone. Enjoy the best 4 days in college hoops.

No, the other guys on the CBS set will def wanna hear about the Siena/Canisius game and not the Maryland NC. The guys in there because he's got a big personality. The "phantom handshake" bit got a lot of play on ESPN and probably helped, along with the MAAC final (Cal Ripken) on ESPN2, get him this gig.

Although I think there are much better coaching choices, no one can deny that JP is quick witted a fountain on information, and an excellent anecdotal conversationalist. That will bode well for him in media. Many other coaches have gone this route and if he chooses to test the waters thus way and has an opportunity to do so he'd be kind of crazy to pass it up IMHO.

I am sure he will provide great half-time insight into what changes need be made for teams to employ in their respective second halves - as posted above, his insight will be a "no brainer"!

He needs a place to land when he finally gets run out of here on a rail. He's not likely to get another head coaching gig. The more times Siena gets mentioned on national TV the better.
