Wouldn't you love to sit in on his "review" as he goes over his progress against goals, both overall and this year (I assume the 5 year plan had goals, but maybe the only thing in it was one word "Survive"). John would fall asleep after the tenth or twelfth "it's on me".....

agree or disagree John shouldn't be there, now is a nice time for a change in that position.

I82 good post but if there truly are "off the court concerns", and we hear that here without any specific details on the "what, when, who and why", Admin is apt to use that as the defining factor. It played a role with Byer and some of the discipline issues with Lanier's recruits didn't help him. Thats the case with any school and coach. I identified academics and excessive xfers. If you care to add, feel free.

Ever been to one of his practices, the way he treats some of the players and coaches is bizarre - constantly making fun of them and berating them rather than a focus on teaching. Jimmy is also known to be a character in other ways, but its mostly anecdotal and not for a board.

Mike Deane was a "character" as well, but he won despite some recruiting head scratchers.

When I was at the Intra-squad scrimmage two years ago at the ARC, I was appalled at his comments to Rob Poole in the pre-game practice. It seemed like such a wrong setting to do it with the crowd there. Passed it off as a bad day. Guess i was wrong.

Mike Deane was a "character" as well, but he won despite some recruiting head scratchers. True but he didn't coach Siena in the world of tweets, boards. Camera phones etc. And society is much more tight assed today and will make an example of a coach real fast if the wrong person wants to make a big deal of it

He was at many games including the Tournament supporting the Saints unlike many on this board who existsolely to demonize the Coach.

I get that JP is an easy target and gives "fans" lot of reason to attack him. But it ain't all bad with the current Siena Coach. In my opinion the 4 seniors all improved significantly during their time at Siena. Especially Brett and Javion when I look back to their games as Freshmen. Brett totally retooled his game under Pastos. Javion become a force on both ends of the floor. That was not the case when he was a Frosh. Surely Jimmy and his coaching staff deserve some credit for that.

As long as "fans" are satisfied with .500 seasons whether with seniors or freshmen, he'll be our "coach" forever.

Gorvy, the point I was making is that most only post negative comments on here and never have anything positive to say. I am not happy with Jimmy or the team's performance this past season or in general since he arrived at Siena. But there are positives to discuss as well and I do not think the future is a bleak as many on here seem to believe it is. If the current freshmen class can improve as much as those 4 seniors did over their careers, Nico sticks around and stays healthy and some quality recruits are brought in, the Saints will have chance to be better than what most are predicting. I will be waiting for you "negative" response.

Fact: I don't see half the negative comments on other basketball blogs! And that includes MAAC schools and St Bonaventure!

No problem with negative comments, but some of you on here only post negative comments... nothing positive...ever. I was simply pointing out something that I see as a positive... player improvement under Patsos' watch. And instead of Grovy saying that he agreed with my position or not, instead he posts another negative comment about the team and the coach.... which if anything only further supports my point.

If an overtime loss in the championship game is a negative you're beyond the point of reality.
