The only way I would be interested (and I know I'm a nut) is if the four seniors didn't play at all ( maybe were assistant coaches or something), and the game was at the arc. Let's see what we have returning, give them some real minutes and see where we are at.

So nobody would sign up for a rematch with Albany in the CIT? I don't understand why you would turn down a CIT bid if offered. Obviously paying to host a game in the CBI is very different and I can understand not wanting to go that route again. Nope.....kids ended their careers with the right weekend. They played hard and well. Came up a stop short in OT of the Championship game. Turn the page.....

I felt terrible last night at the TUC, I felt terrible this morning, and I will feel terrible tomorrow as well. Still, underneath all of that, I feel very, very proud and happy for this team. After all they have been through for four years, they played like champions for three days in March. They, night after night, left it all on the court. I would feel a lot worse if we lost to Fairfield and the tourney ended that way. These kids gave us everything they could, and as Brett said, "you can live with that". Congrats to EVERY single player wearing the green and gold.
That said, as far as an end-of-season tourney, I would be good with WHATEVER the kids wanted to do. After four years, I think we owe them that. If they are good with this weekend as the end, I am good with it. If they really wanted to play in the CBI or CIT, then I am good with that- and if the kids want to play, I will be there to support them, just as I was all this weekend.
Thanks to every fan, every student, everyone who attended this weekend and for your support for our Saints, and the biggest thanks of all to the players on the court. Well done, men!

I agree with most of this but if I could I'd like to do a little "Vanilla Sky" to the ending and just live in that "reality" for a bit.

We are not Duke or North Carolina, Notre Dame, etc....
At this level, I say play. Play to win. Exposure. Exposure. Exposure. Never turn down exposure. For both the players and Siena. Good for recruiting.
Win another CBI Championship. With this team we would have a good chance. The first one was a great experience. The second not so much. Let's be the first school to win the CBI twice. Take the challenge if given the opportunity.
Playing ball is playing ball. Does not matter where or when or what the tournament name is. It's still about playing ball, and the experience that goes along with it.
You can't tell me that the kids would not love playing in California or wherever in the next few weeks if given the chance to take a few more road trips to play some more hoop.
Their option is staying home in Loudonville. Hmmm, what do you think your choice would be at age 18-22, road trip to play some more ball or stay home for your 8am economics class?
Stretch the season out for as long as you can? Once the sting of losing last night starts to wear out, would it not be nice to possibly finish the season on a high note if given the chance?
I just don't get it with all the talk about absolutely not playing in a tournsment like the CBI, like we are too good for it, even if you have the chance?
Crazy bad decision in my opinion.
If any of the seniors want to check out, let them check out. No big deal.
My guess is that all the seniors would play if given the chance, especially after winning the tournament three years ago. Try to get home games at the ARC. That place would fill up fast. The students would come. The other younger guys would also have the opportunity to keep playing. It's like having a 2017/2018 pre-season during the 2016/2017 post season.
My vote is to put it out there now to all these smaller tournaments that you would accept any invite that comes our way.
Go Saints! Win the CBI!

Did you see the Morehead State game last year? No way this team should participate in any tournament but NCAA/NIT and since that is over so is our season.

a stroll down memory lane - an article from 2014 when our Seniors were just Frosh...............
College Basketball Invitational
Where it stands: Semifinals (Siena vs. Illinois State; Fresno State vs. Old Dominion)
Where it will end: Best-of-three finals on March 31, April 2 and April 4 on campus sites The four quarterfinals of the CBI, now in its seventh year, took place on Monday. Siena edged Penn State by two, Old Dominion routed fellow Virginia school Radford by 23, Illinois State beat Texas A&M by seven and Fresno State cruised to a 16-point win over Princeton. The teams have been re-seeded before Wednesday's semifinals, in which Siena will host Illinois State and Fresno State will host Old Dominion. The real twist in this tournament, however, comes in the finals, which are best two-out-of-three, with the team that hosts the second game also getting to host the decisive third game, if necessary.

Siena is in a more precarious financial position now than in 2014. The CBI pay for play would be fiscally irresponsible (IMHO) considering the vulnerability of the program and next year being pivotal for this regime.

These tourneys are set up to build confidence for younger teams. Our seniors had a great run to end their careers. let them have that memory, move on. Season has ended.
