Iona had three guys dressed in red skin tight head to toe costumes(Spider Man like). I don't know if they were alums or students . From a distance I didn't see any problem. However, walking up from the basement men's room with one of them coming down the stairs the guy's junk stuck out in an obscene manner for all to see. Another example of classless Iona. Sorry, that was actually me.

Great game by all involved, from the players to the coaches to even the fans. Despite not having large attendence numbers for the magnitude of the games, the last two nights were two of the loudest nights I have heard in that arena, including the Fran days, in a very long time. The students finally showed up and were loud from beginning to end on both days. Kudos to all of you.
Hats off to Iona. Hope they represent the MAAC well with a surprise showing in the Sweet 16 let alone the Round of 32?
When they look back at this game, I think the thing they will find that killed them the most was not a turnover here or a missed foul shot or regular shot there, but rather their inability to get the Washington kid fouled out for the remaining 12 minutes of the game after picking up his 4th foul with like 7 minutes left in regulation.
Good luck to all the seniors. You should all hold your head high. Regardless of never reaching your goal of getting to the NCAA's, you represented the Siena Basketball Community with the utmost class and dignity the last 4 yrs; as being a very talented group of players but for whatever the reason, just could not get over the hump. Until literally the final second of your careers, with the Marquis three, you never ever gave up. You are by far, despite never getting to the NCAA's, one of my most liked senior classes ever. You deserve all the respect you are given and more. Wich you nothing but the best moving forward with your life beyond college.
My only suggestion that I know all of you are well on your way to doing is to make sure by spring or summers end, at the latest, that you get that degree. Don't let it go beyond that because the further you get away from college the harder it will become to come back and get it. Just ask all time Siena great Doremus Bennerman that question(it's the only reason his name is not up on the rafters at the TU), and I am sure he would give you an earful to just make sure you get your degree before leaving town because you never know when you may be back.
Then when your playing hoop days are done, use that degree and your name in the our local community to your advantage. "If" you need to get your first job around here locally, where you are pretty certain that you could parlay your visability in the local community to getting that first "good" job, that can then lead to a great career whereever it may take you.
Otherwise, by not getting that degree or taking advantage of your name, you could be putting your whole financial future at risk.
To the all the returning players, obviously, there are lots of available minutes to compete for next year.
Many on this board think that beyond Nico, to put it bluntly that for the most part when being compared to your MAAC peers, that you guys stink. Nothing against you personally. I am sure they all feel as I do that you are all great kids and great representatives of the program. But when it comes to playing hoop at this level, that you just can't, and won't, get it done.
They all think that next year we will stink as a team. That Coach is a lousy recruiter. I disagree with these assement's.
I just think with the four seniors and Nico you may have rightfully felt that there were not many opportunities for you this year but next year will be different for many of you personally.
One year you can look horrible and then with hard work it all begins to click and soon enough you go from the end of the bench to being on the court.
Welcome to college basketball. Ryan Rossiter, OD, and yes, even you Javion, were not all that good early in their/your career(s).
So just work your ass'es off to get on Jimmy's good side.
Each and every one of you. As the leader of this team for the next two years Nico, hopefully you will lead by ezample and work the hardest.
Don't wait for coach to come to you. Go to him and tell him you want to "earn" playing time next year.
Ask him what he thinks are the 3 main things you need to work on to get you back in that rotation.
And then get to work like you have never worked before.
WB, you are a perfect example of this. We have all seen your athleticism that you cannot teach. Two years ago, we saw your ability to make threes.
But whatever it is, whether it's your effort, toughness, competitiveness, ability to show results, or things like language barriers or confidence in yourself to be the man, whatever the reason may be, you were obviously stuck at the very end of that bench this season.
It's one thing to be a good teammate as you appeared to be all year from the outside looking in attitude wise, to what appeared to be very accepting of what your role was on this team this season, which is a good thing.
But it's another whole thing to have the height and athleticism and shot that you have and still be at the end of the bench.
Unless the other guys are just so much better than you come next November, you shouldn't be so accepting of that role next year so the only way to change that is to get to work.
Whatever the reason is, you must not be showing coach you are worthy of extended playing time. And you got two guys in Fisher and Friday who were getting playing time over you this year so next year going in, you automatically know that you have to leapfrog them to start. Next, you will also have Degnan to compete with, along with at least one freshmen big as of now.
With them both being new to the program game wise, you know as he has done with Fisher and Friday, and even you as a freshmen, that they will get the benefit of the doubt to get more minutes to see what they can do over older guys in the program if you are even close to being equal as to what you can bring to the table right then, right now vs. them?
With your exhibited talents and height and athleticism already being there, I urge you, that if you just work harder on all aspects of your game and your fitness than you ever have before in your life over the next 6 months, regardless of the results, you will be in a good place.
You just may find that if you do that you may be able to come into next year with the confidence as being the man showing coach and your teammates that for them to even be close to you, where coach even has a shot at considering not playing you for the last two years of your college career, that they too will have to get that much better in the next six months.
Show coach that you refuse to just give this opportunity away to other teammates for playing time without putting up as Coach puts it, a "junkyard dogfight" for it.
You do this and super competitive guys like Nico who you will be graduating with will not only respect you for it but will help you become better and more visable in the league during game time when it matters most, thus giving you more opportinities to keep playing hoop beyond college if you so choose to?
In other words these next 6 months in the off season could help your future for many years to come.
A perfect example of a person with confidence and swag, and determination to getting it done is last nights MAAC Tournament MVP.
It's very obvious he is not all that athletic or looks good doing what he does. But he has a heart thats as big as New York that never gives up.
Whether its getting a weird looking shot off with enough touch to make it go in, work at getting a key rebound, or being a great foul shooter, he more times than not, gets it done, in pressure situations.
It's up to you WB? You have all the tools. Learn the game. Watch tape. Watch more tape. Learn some more. Work hard. Work harder. Buff up. Get tougher. Learn the language better. Practice. Practice. Practice.
If you do all this over the next 6 months, trust me, you won't have to worry about the results. Your upside is more than the others. You will know going in that you will be the main upperclass big man for Siena for the next 2 yrs.
Just do it!

This is so over the line. Couldn't be prouder of these kids, ALL OF THEM, for the effort and results; even given the crushing heartbreaking end to our senior's Siena careers. It's easy to go back and pick a missed FT, a TO or a bad shot and play the 'only if' game. Had any, yes ANY play had a different outcome, the ones following it would be different as well and forecasting that unknowable future is ridiculous! Our kids were hurt, tired and yet they gave more than their all. We would all have understood had they come out after the Sunday win and laid an egg on Monday night. Absent the final result, it was, IMO, one of the best, hardest fought set of games by any Siena team. I doubt any ESPN viewers switched our games off before their dramatic finishes - the games were that good. Nicely said!! To be precise, Fisher checked in and the score was 23-17. He played a total of 1:31 seconds during which the Saints missed 4 shots (including one he took) and the Gaels score 6 points on two transition 3's.

Fisher ended season with +/- of - 8.2, by far worst on Siena team and 2nd worst in MAAC for all players with 250 min or more. Last place was a guard from Marist called Ritchie Mitchell who had a -8.6

I went back and checked out Iona's FT shooting for the tournament. In 3 games, they were 60-68. 88%. THAT'S Championship basketball.
Work hard on your FT's kids. They really do matter.

Once fisher checked in Iona started a 14-1 run. Friday was used all weekend why change it for this game? The game was won and lost at the line but Siena was a completely different team when he checked into the game. 5 on 4 basketball.

This wasn't a one-off by Fisher, almost every time the kid checked in this season leads slipped. This was also the case once Jimbo started to sub in the 1st half. Happens when you go 5 on 4 or 3.
It all equates to a very weak bench.
Yeah I know kind of an obvious observation.

Yes, Iona went on a big run (I think if you check the play by play you'll see that it actually started before he got on the court and went on well after he was off the court). That is what teams like Iona do, they go on big runs and then hope it's enough to propel them to victory. But, at least on this night, every run that Iona went on, Siena matched. I'm not defending Fisher but one guy didn't cause nor extend the run. Further, Siena did not lose because of foul shots. It was a factor in the game that counterbalanced their dominance of the boards and second chance points. Just as easily, you could point to bad turnovers by Wright and Bisping in key situations or missed layups by JO or their inability to stop the Gaels once during overtime (after playing pretty good defense all game long). That is basketball.
