To rebuild, you have to be coming from somewhere good. If you are coming off a 500 season that’s not a rebuild, you are still trying to build the program- a 4th or 5th place finish will be fine- but to get there going to need at least 2 maybe more of the incoming freshmen to be impact players. For now have to assume Nico wont be here. Our athleticism looks to be on par with a typical D2 team next year a small correction. To rebuild one need only be coming from a peak. You have seen the pinnacle of Patsos Siena success. Hope you enjoyed it and cheers to the next run. Perhaps even another CBI appearance over the next 4 to 5 years! . With fans poor suppprt and teams performance I wouldnt be surprised if the cbi was a thing of the past. This would be a shame because I like them.

It's different (at least for college basketball), and gives the better team (if there is one) a chance to come out on top, instead of an "anything can happen in one game" scenario.

I like the whole thing, frankly, except for the cost. For me it's a reward for job well done (even if not NCAA/nit) and it gives fans a chance to see teams they wouldn't normally see. For the players it's another chance at a tournament setting. Our fans blew it by not showing up, imo.

Yes, there were 3-4K but it would have been cool to have had 6-8k at the TUC and 4K at the ARC.

I think the novelty wore off after the first year of our "subscription" - renewal just didn't sell like they hoped - you can only buy so many trophies

Not trying to prove a point one way or another. I really dont know the answers. Would be interested in finding out though.
Just wondering for a mid major program such as Siena, in our programs history, using some of our better players as examples to go by, did the pattern show that the majority of these stronger players in our programs history compared to some of the stronger current players listed below come out of high school as being high recruits or not so high recruits?
Could someone who is in the know give us your best guess answers to the breakdown of scholarship offers as a choice of either:
(1) No other D1 scholarship offers (2) Less than 5 mid major scholarship offers (3) More than 5 mid major scholarship offers (4) Scholarship offers that included offers from programs from higher mid major conferences such as the A-10 or higher
For some of the following stronger players in the Siena program history:
Marc Brown Doremus Bennerman Jeff Robinson Jack McClinton Steve McCoy Matt Brady Scott Knapp Michael Haddix Edwin Eubiles Kenny Hasbrouck Alex Franklin Ronald Moore Ryan Rossiter OD Rob Poole Brett Bisbing Javion Marquis Wright Lavon Long Nico Clareth Kamil Richards
or any other players you might want to add in there that were impact players during their time here at Siena?

That's not really proving anything. Some players were recruited specifically to fit a coaches style of play and some were developed into what they became because of the system they played in and the coaching regimes.

GB really nails the issue here. Successful coaches recruit players who can excel in the style of play employed by the program and to fill needs. The vast majority of times SoSo recruits to name drop, maintain relationships in his circle of (ahem) friends and when he has to go get recruits on his own he targets those with the path of least resistance - aka no real recruiting competition.

some of these guys were also before the era of Twitter/Internet where the information was available. Robinson blew up his senior year at LaSalle and schools such as BC and GTECH wanted him. Brown was highly recruited which is why Capper went to something like 30 of his games. I know McCoy was highly recruited amongst Siena peer schools as was Haddix.

Seton Hall was sniffing towards Marc Brown after his frosh yr........and thankfully it never went further than that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
