Three kids in this class with hardly any offers from D1 schools. That's a bit scary.

Think we all knew next year would be a re-builder. Even with Nico. It ll fun to see what we have with these new kids. I want kids with high BB IQ that can shoot. Still need a rebounder in my opinion.

In regards to the recruits I always defer to those here, on how well the particular recruits will make out. Right now Siena has major issues in recruiting if what I am reading is correct. Probably all good kids but are their any studs?

Sorry but the rebuilding excuse won't cut it if it's another .500 season or less. Pretty sure the administration will agree too after 5 years.

I don't know the recruits but those who do suggest these recruits are not in his caliber.

So you thought back in September that next years team would be what? A title contender? I said they'd be around 4th/5th and that was with Nico leading the way as a junior.

To rebuild, you have to be coming from somewhere good. If you are coming off a 500 season that’s not a rebuild, you are still trying to build the program- a 4th or 5th place finish will be fine- but to get there going to need at least 2 maybe more of the incoming freshmen to be impact players. For now have to assume Nico wont be here. Our athleticism looks to be on par with a typical D2 team next year

I'm talking about fans expectations for '17-'18 after losing the top 5 players in the program. With no expectations, I think we may surprise people next year.

With playing time available, Jimmy should have signed a dynamite class, every time he had competition he swung and missed- he signed 3 kids with no or little D1 interest, 4th kid with nice athleticism that is struggling adjusting to American game. If the incoming recruits can play- the team is fun to watch and we are 500 or better , and most importantly the freshmen look good so the future looks bright then Jimmy will be fine- if we have basically a D2 team that struggles to win 10 games- then Jimmy should justifiably be fired

If this season ends up over .500 give two years but no extensions. The line about coach being guaranteed for 5 years does not work since the players are rarely here for four anyway.

Here's the giant white elephant in the room (beside JPs lackluster recruiting with tons of good minutes to offer and with essentially a team comprised of mostly role guys).....
You can't lose over 50% of your roster and expect not to have to have major issues. IMO this is as bad a problem as recruiting kids with next to no D1 offers . The low level of recruit is just compounded by losing so many players.
Given the excessive loss of players over the last few years and subpar level of recruiting we're not prepared / building for the future.
I just hope fans don't buy into that ol' rebuild song and dance as an excuse. The lack of player experience and quality is resting solely on JPs shoulders. There's no way we should be in this position next season at this juncture of JPs tenure at Siena.
The admins really need to figure just what they want this program to be..... We are staring at a 500 year this season and probably around 500 if lucky or less If not.
At some point you have to start asking IS 500 good enough?

Not taking a cheap shot at all- I am merely pointing out that there are no guarantees and there are many obstacles that even talented players have to overcome to be able to balance an education with success on the basketball court. I hope Nico figures it out- he is way too talented to not get another opportunity to display this talent either here or some other D1 program.

No but I still expected to be good. You're right that was with Nico leading the way. Nico has made mistakes but JP has to get some heat for his handling of that situation don't you think? Let's see what happens the rest of this year. If Siena were to somehow win the MAAC championship then I would be more "tolerant" of a rebulding type of season. But .500 or less this year and another year? When does it end? That's 5 years and IMO it's time to move on (and money won't be an issue with the contract at that point).

You have seen the pinnacle of Patsos Siena success. Hope you enjoyed it and cheers to the next run. Perhaps even another CBI appearance over the next 4 to 5 years!
