Ok, we all know we have no ships as I am writing this at 10:50 Sunday morning. But let's assume one opens up tomorrow. We now have 1 ship to give. We could then also free up a ship by not renewing the ship of a former walk-on from North Carolina. That would give us two ships: If we have two ship, here is what I would do in order:
1. Lock up Vann, he is the replacement to Long and lessens the burden on incoming 17 freshmen having to be difference makers 2. Sign the High Major big man transfer that HJ has referred to numerous times.
Thne in 17 Huerter gets 1, assume JM from Troy gets 1, we need 1 difference maker in 17, probably PF since we have Nico and Vann, but a combo guard will do too.
IF we only get on e transfer, give the second ship to Huerter and free one up in 17. IF we only get one ship because we allow walk-on and we don't het a transfer, then we a kid who can definitely start in 17 hopefully 6-7 or 7-8. IF we don't get anyone then keep it then I save it until late August and hope someone frees up over the summer. If no one frees up, give it to Huerter and we have another for 17 class.
But what would JP do and what would you do. I spent a lot of time in the car this week so I had to get this out and hope its not too much of a ramble.

I'd go with the 7'8" kid in 2017 for sure. ;-)

Vann is a priority. Find a legit 4 to replace Brett. Forget the kid from Troy we already have a major project in Fisher at that spot. Give Huerter a ship, I'm hoping he's at least a better version of Collin Stewart. I'd use the rest to recruit impact guys don't care what position.

If Huerter is a better version of Colin Stewart Jimmy's getting a bargain as a walk on.

As one of our esteemed bloggers stated today a player will be announcing to transfer. Lets hope its the one who is from Carolina

Probably not we can only hope, however perhaps the father will pony up and pay for the last year to give JP another ship. Fair exchange only paying what 50% and your son plays D1 ball.

Been practicing putting on a happy face all day in anticipation of tomorrow's announcement of yet another underclassman who doesn't want to remain at Siena. I guess the new normal is for all of us to be ecstatic that we have now become "just like all the other D1 businesses" out there, finally moving up from our long standing as a Siena basketball family with kids that wanted to stay and play. I'm reassured by all of the comments that support the view that the moves are based on somewhat selfish desires for more playing time (regardless of level) and not due in any way shape or form to how they were treated by our "staff". If there are additional moves (which are not totally out of the realm of possibility) it will be yet another positive as we get closer to the transfer/departure numbers previously reserved for the big boys. We are really lucky that our "staff" recognized early on the possibility that at least two players would leave "on their own" and kept up their efforts on the recruiting trail - they are clearly protecting our interests and should receive kudos from all of us. The kids that were early seen as wanting to leave were also protected from injury by keeping them safely on the bench. I'm sure their families are appreciative of that.
I have to thank IndianSaint for convincing me that it's much more fun being positive about any and all things Siena Basketball related than seeing things in a less than stellar light. Now if there were only some daffodils and tulips outside that I could dance around while listening to the birds chirping and singing. Great time to be a Siena Fan. How did I do, IS?

Ok but what are the priorities to fill these unfortunate vacancies Hard to tell, the five year plan must be on Hillary Clinton's personal server and I can't access it. There has to be a plan, doesn't there?

Is JP lying about the teams GPA being the best it has in years??
As for BSG's question, I think we get either VANN/BCS big transfer with one scholarship, and predicting a newcomer, and his family, have a great day tomorrow.

Yes, and a player-minder to keep an eye on a key player to ensure his work is done and class is attended, etc. Amazing how in only three short years those responsibilities have devolved from an assistant coach to a DOBO and now to a freshman player. Must be a form of leadership training in case the player-minder survives to his senior year and has a chance at being a team captain. Have to start over next year as this one didn't make the cut! Now that I think about it, all of those with that responsibility over the last three years have been "allowed" to leave! Must be a harder job than one would think, i.e., getting a student athlete to go to class, do the work, etc..
