"times they are a changin" Boy, how this board has changed their minds on transfers and JUCO. I stated many years ago, the only way Mitch could have saved his job was to look for a proven scorer in a transfer or JUCO and no one agreed with me. (This is Siena, we don’t do that) Finally people see the light at the end of the tunnel, and yes fans it’s a train. So get on board fans, transfers are part of the equation. www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7qQ6_RV4VQ

Probably the same ones who bashed Iona the last few years. Of course the simpleton response you get is "well one or two is okay now but not a whole team full of them" lol

Some names that could be of interest:
James Palmer - Miami - 6'5" 200 lb G/F has 2 years remaining. Native of Washington DC and attended St. John's College HS, a very good HS program in that area. Evan Maxwell - Liberty - 6'10" 245 C has 2 years remaining. Native of central PA. Averaged 10 and 5 this year in 20 minutes of action. Dwayne Morgan - UNLV - 6'8" 205 Combo F has 2 years remaining. Native of Baltimore, MD and attended St. Frances Academy, same HS as Maurice White. He's averaged just under 20 min and 5 ppg in 2 seasons at UNLV. Some reports have high major east coast teams interested.

Also, not a passer. But could be a contributor. Dwayne Morgan could be interesting if the bigger teams don't take him. He's a little turnover prone and in between positions but Patsos could maybe toughen him up into a true big. All of our guys over 6-7 have SF aspects to them. Our PFs and Centers are all scoring inside and out. He would certainly fit that mold.

I feel like there are some things, just maybe, that we could try to emulate from Iona under Cluess.

Fran McCaffery should be the standard for Siena not Tim Cluess. And yes Fran got a little "lucky" getting Hasbrouck/Moore who flew under the radar but it's not like we fell into gold with a Curry or Jason Thompson two NBA guys (hopefully one day Siena will get lucky and get one of those once in a generation players). Cluess has done very well but he's never won an NCAA/NIT game and choked a bunch in the MAAC tournament. I actually thought he probably did his best job this past year because Iona finally decided to defend which was the difference. Cluess took over a good situation from Willard. If the Iona way is so good why, with his record, is Cluess still the coach there? Ditto with Will Brown. Iona isn't going to be getting a Momo Jones or Mike Glover anymore with no hardship waiver. English and Armand sure those are four year top players they developed.

We've been in the dregs of D1 over that same period. Nobody even knows who we are anymore. You're like a starving homeless person who refuses to eat bread with the crust still on it.

If you want to win with 4 year players, fine. Get better 4 year players.
Iona doesn't even take a ton of Juco's anymore. They get actual transfers, many of which sat out either there or at their prior school.
And while Isaiah Williams was technically a JUCO, he had committed there as a 4 year player earlier and just spent a year getting his grades in order.
40% of players transfer. They get some good HS kids like English, Armand, Casimir, Proctor, McGill etc. but are smart enough to see talent wherever it may be.
Often times the transfer is more proven or has more talent. They know the rules and they use them to their advantage. They know their holes and they fill them.
Can't blame them for that.
Siena's advantage is attendance, home court advantage, and fan interest. Iona's advantage is NYC proximity as a transfer destination. Use what you got.

Siena's advantages IMO gives us the inside track to win a MAAC title on both sides consistently KK. Even NYC is not too far from Siena. Are there any players out there that would not want home court advantage , great attendence and media coverage and attention? Some people want no part of NYC anyway!!!!
