That is an objective post and accurate. On the positive note he's also brought in Wright, Nico and Wormley. I hope Smithen and Joseph work out well. Richards I don't know enough about. A bit more selectivity and diligence will go along way in extending JPs longevity with Siena. Three or four very big shoes to fill next year. Richard seems like a Kidani Brutus/Stephan Jiggets type. He seems like he's got heavy feet and is undersized. espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/52436/kidani-brutusHe likely won't rebound well and will probably not be that great on defense based on his HS stats. And his 2 pt finishing ability probably won't be that good. However, he could provide solid 3pt shooting and some ball handling. He seems like a miniature version of Ryan Oliver with all the things that would come with being a miniature version of Ryan Oliver like a little more quickness but being a worse rebounder and less effective shot contester. From all I've heard, he's a scorer. Good, we need some firepower. Kinnon, with a strong summer, can replace Oliver.

I have to think it'd be much easier to fill four shoes than three. Not a lot of one legged D1 basketball players out there. Or three legged ones for that matter. Lol ... Corrected s/b spots. Fat fingered something and good ol' auto correct took care of for rest.

Thanks, Not exactly what I hoped for athleticism wise and lack of size and speed kills you on D. We already have LaRose who lacks speed but can shoot it but at least has some size. Hum, tough call without seeing him, gonna have to watch him on the floor. Sounds like he could be another JP head scratcher. We're certainly not having problems scoring the ball, our issue is more on the defensive end. We struggle against speed and athleticism.

We also heard White was a scorer, Paige was a guard, Cole was our savior, and how much we would love Evan Fisher's toughness. Forgive me if I just analyze it for myself. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. The kid looks like he can shoot but over the last 2 years of HS, he only averaged 11 ppg and finished 2's at only 41% ...and then he just missed his entire senior year with injury. Things don't get easier in D1...they get harder. Now he's rusty and coming off injury and is a player largely reliant on his jumper for his production. www.maxpreps.com/athlete/khalil-richard/qliyePTsEeKZ5AAmVebBJg/gendersport/basketball-stats.htmIf I had to guess, I'd say his FG% would be almost entirely tied to how well he was shooting from three....as an undersized shooter. He could be a sub 40% type player if his jumper is off. And again....think Jiggetts. espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/66144/stephan-jiggetts

Think with Cole it was an attitude problem not an aptitude one . . . but if I recall Rob Poole was high on him

Like to 17/18ppg? Seems like a natural progression. He can score the ball, and will be looked to to provide a spark off the bench. I'd compare him to Vinnie Johnson. A natural PG? Nope. A long guard? Nope. A scorer? Yup. ....and are you sure college basketball is harder than high school?? lol While your spitting out stats, tell us all what Bisping, Marquis, and Nico averaged as sophomores in HS. ...and you're not suggesting we turn our back on this recruit because of an injury are you? The morality police out here will flip out.

Really didn't care much for his game either played way out of control for every decent play he made a bad one soon followed. He showed flashes but I didn't get the impression he was coachable. So I wouldn't say his aptitude was great either. I would say he had potential that he squandered.

Jiggets was low major recruit--- Khalil had several offers from mid majors-- Cant wait to see him, people I know that have seen him play say the kid can play

he is way more athletic than Oliver and should be able to play man ... he looks strong, but he is a freshmen, I like him think he is good prospect.. he was athletic enough that as sophomore Kansas State and Clemson were very interested in him, like I said he stopped growing not too much interest in 5'11" shooting guard at high major level.. Going to be hard to break into playing group next year anyway with Quis, Nico, Kadeem and Kenny-- if he does get into playing group means he is really good

The morality police out here will flip out. I only said 11 ppg cause you made him out to be a super scorer. I don't doubt the kid can shoot. And shooting leads to points. What I question is his finishing ability, rebounding, and defense. -Nico was between 46-48% (more towards the latter) on his 2s in the AAU and junior years stats...and I assume probably the same or better as senior. He was as advertised. -Wright finished 2's at 57% his senior year but 48% as a junior. His stats and contributions were easy to predict from all the info we had. -Bisping, we didn't really have maxpreps stats on him but we had some stats in articles and other thing and we have gotten everything we saw in his highlight reels and game film. He's the same guy he was then, only more focused. Khalil Richard can be a contributor and perhaps 6th man type. He's quicker than Oliver for sure but I just compare him to him because I don't see him as an elite dribble driver nor playmaking defender. He's not a PG. He's too short to be a SG. He can be a slower Evan Hymes, I think, and give us some points and handle the ball some. He can be a contributor if he gets back his game. Maybe we don't need him much next year but down the line, ok. The guys I'm comparing him to are all contributors at this level. They just aren't stars. They are role players.

And when I say 'heavy feet' it's largely referring to his defense and his speed and handle relative to the PG position. He has plenty speed and handle enough for the SG...it's just that he's only 5-11 or 6-1 or whatever he is.
He can be the little guy that comes off the bench and puts up 8-9 points in 20 mins. Teams need that.
It's just, did we need that in early signing period?
Shouldn't we be attempting to find the next all-around guy?
That's how you win championships.

In Jimmy's defense, there was no way to know that Richards was going to miss his entire senior season with an injury. I am sure they saw enough to see a scenario where Richards blew up his senior year and would get higher offers if Siena didn't lock him up early. If I recall, that is basically what happened with Nico, we locked him up before he blew up.
