Best of luck to Paige, he seems like a class act.

I doubt I need to declare that I generally like Patsos, but I do question how he handled Paige. First, I don't know how he ended up being a non-fit in Patsos' (and staff's?) eyes. What we saw of him last year made me think he could have helped us this season. Second, if you know that you'll be heading in a different direction, why play him at all? Let him red shirt so he can keep that extra year and play right away somewhere else in D1 if that's where he lands. Would be interested to know why things were handled as they were. Everyone speculates, but I doubt any of us really know. Add the handling of Silas too.....

Best of luck to Paige. Seems to be a good kid.
Now I generally like Patsos and think he gets a lot of unnecessary criticism on here. With that said, I have some major problems with running kids off. I get that college basketball is a business and coaches must win, but at what point does it become overkill. Just doesn't seem right that a coach can bring in a kid under the impression they can contribute, and then when they don't pan out, they dictate that kids fate for the next few years. Especially when it's a kid the current coach recruited.
IMO, a scholarship is a 4 year commitment. It's why Cam should have never gotten one and they need to be valued. If a kid wants to transfer under his own accord, that's fine. However, running kids off every year makes us no better than a school like Iona.

It's taken three years, but I finally understand the "logic" behind having the End Of Season Banquet immediately after the final regular season game. Siena saves a bundle by being able to find a smaller banquet room since they won't have to find one big enough to accommodate the "elephant in the room" that follows our Program each year. Double congratulations to the Huerter's - Kevin has been selected as one of only eight HS players to compete in a three point shooting contest at the Final Four and now that Paige's ship has sailed, Tommy should have his status raised from walk-on to a counter! MP, I think you are forgetting about Jonathan Joseph. Paige's ship would appear to be his. The ships of Oliver and Silas are presumably going to JO and Richard. There would have to be another departure for Thomas to get a ship, and that presumes that another scholarship player (like a big BCS transfer) is not added. Besides, at least from published reports, Thomas was to be a walk-on his first year. Not that what was said or reported previously necessarily matters.

Some school leagues have gone to guarantee 4, not sure where Siena and MAAC are.

Does someone have insider info that the kid was "run off"...maybe it was explained that he will not see any PT and that he could stay or transfer and the kid chose.
I have no idea what happened but it seems that some want to claim he was "run off".
JP seems to be fair to his players and they all seem to have good things to say about him. Players that graduate stay in touch with him, so I dont think he is as bad to them as some on this board claim or feel to fill their agenda.

Luke just misrecruited him and it did not workout. Hopefully Paige finds himself in a situation where he can contribute more and continue with his education.

I don't know what goes on behind the scenes but this seems like it was another bad recruiting fit. If they thought he was more PF than SF, then why recruit him given what we already had on the roster? We didn't need a PF...nor a combo forward. We needed a guard.
I like Paige. I think he's a tough player. He rebounds, finishes, and makes his FTs.
If he was on another team in the MAAC and not the team with the best frontcourt, he probably would have played more. He could maybe have been the valuable PF/CF on a lot of the bottom half teams in their smaller lineups. He could have maybe developed into a Deon Jones type.
There wasn't a whole lot of video or stats on him coming out of HS but he seemed like he had some decent guard skills. I think that, with Lavon around, any niche he could have possibly had was already taken.
I wish the kid the best of luck.

Great kid, knowing what the eventual outcome would be stayed with it. Hope he excels wherever he lands. I seriously hope you are not thinking this was "voluntary" - you seem to be implying he might have "stayed with it" ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ? Why is so hard for negative people to believe that a kid is actually competitive and doesn't want to sit on a bench for 4 years? Anyone knows he can get a scholarship at a D-2 school, AND actually play quality minutes....immediately. Happens all the time....except if the guy with closed practices does it.

People that like the coach: "He wanted to get on the court, and after 2 years, knew it wouldn't be here." People that hate the coach: "He was run off" The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

I can see the spin and/or naïveté is in full swing and so transparent it's like looking through glass. Everyone knew this was coming and why. JP needs the scholarship. It's not news or a surprise.
Patsos has to do what he has to do... Next year we have a legit shot at a 1st place and/or MAAC Tournamnent win at home. If JP recruits well for year 5 we will be at least as good as this year, the program is looking good and the ship is righted.
However, if he doesn't and the bottom falls out year 5 & he's a 500 guy at Siena during his 5 year rebuild plan/stint, not good news. If he has a contract extension beyond that under the 500/5yr scenario, the program stands a better than average chance of sinking into obscurity, attendance goes along with it and so does $$$$. Mediocrity is as bad as losing, the death is just slower.
Good luck to Mr Paige....No Quarter

Anyone knows he can get a scholarship at a D-2 school, AND actually play quality minutes....immediately. Happens all the time....except if the guy with closed practices does it. Practices are closed - gosh I didn't know that! As to JP and JP (that has a nice ring to it) it's hard to reconcile the fact that his teammates last year wanted him to get time and his HC at that time was very happy with his performance with his self initiated desire to leave - most coaches in that situation would give a kid who doesn't hurt you when he plays, can fill minutes when other similar players have to sit due to foul issues or on-again off-again don't want to play attitudes, some minutes to showcase him making it easier for him to find the "fit" he might be looking for. Just sayin' OBTW, get some new material - your need to put my comments in an unfavorable light by relying on MTS' old "he's bitter because he can't go to practice" baseless argument is beyond old - it long ago passed the white dog crap age! Happy Easter - are you tapping Bock yet?
