It's taken three years, but I finally understand the "logic" behind having the End Of Season Banquet immediately after the final regular season game. Siena saves a bundle by being able to find a smaller banquet room since they won't have to find one big enough to accommodate the "elephant in the room" that follows our Program each year. Double congratulations to the Huerter's - Kevin has been selected as one of only eight HS players to compete in a three point shooting contest at the Final Four and now that Paige's ship has sailed, Tommy should have his status raised from walk-on to a counter! MP, I think you are forgetting about Jonathan Joseph. Paige's ship would appear to be his. The ships of Oliver and Silas are presumably going to JO and Richard. There would have to be another departure for Thomas to get a ship, and that presumes that another scholarship player (like a big BCS transfer) is not added. Besides, at least from published reports, Thomas was to be a walk-on his first year. Not that what was said or reported previously necessarily matters. I know - just having a little tongue in cheek moment. Thought ships beyond what is available when offers are made and then "unexpectedly" open up went in chronological order - HA!

As a senior in D2 Hopper averaged 4.4 pts 2.9 rbs in 12.1 minutes a game, Audu averaged 2.2 pts 0.8 rbs in 8.2 minutes a game. Paige definitely deserves a scholarship at the d2 level.

Why is so hard for negative people to believe that a kid is actually competitive and doesn't want to sit on a bench for 4 years? Anyone knows he can get a scholarship at a D-2 school, AND actually play quality minutes....immediately. Happens all the time....except if the guy with closed practices does it. Practices are closed - gosh I didn't know that! As to JP and JP (that has a nice ring to it) it's hard to reconcile the fact that his teammates last year wanted him to get time and his HC at that time was very happy with his performance with his self initiated desire to leave - most coaches in that situation would give a kid who doesn't hurt you when he plays, can fill minutes when other similar players have to sit due to foul issues or on-again off-again don't want to play attitudes, some minutes to showcase him making it easier for him to find the "fit" he might be looking for. Just sayin' OBTW, get some new material - your need to put my comments in an unfavorable light by relying on MTS' old "he's bitter because he can't go to practice" baseless argument is beyond old - it long ago passed the white dog crap age! Happy Easter - are you tapping Bock yet? Now you want our head coach to "showcase" the 12th man on the team so he'll have a better landing spot when he leaves?? Not try to WIN games? Because this is all for charity. It's not a big business where if people, players and coaches in this case, don't perform well enough, they "move on." Bottom line is the kid is a 6'4" PF. Never should have bought here by our previous assistant, and not approved by our head coach. Did Jimmy make a mistake on him? Yep, and now he fixed it....for both parties. We're a player away from winning the MAAC. I'd sure hate it if one of the scholarships Paige or Gottfried was using prevented us from taking that difference-maker, wouldn't you?

Maurice Whites numbers at the D-2 level were just as bad. We're def making too many mistakes on the recruiting trail, but I like the two upgrades we made last season on the staff. One more may be needed.

HJ - I generally agree with most of what you have to say, but I don't get the Luke's fault here other than he was part of the problem. Scholarships are like gold and I would think JP would be very careful in giving them out. Either Luke did a great job convincing Jimmy or Jimmy didn't see a large enough sample size of Paige's work before offering. I agree with Tony that this was an example of "lazy recruiting' where we could have gotten him later or a similar player later and held out for a better player. You can blame players for executing or hustling but recruiting is on the head coach when it comes to signed players. Assistants should get blamed for lack of pipeline but I cannot believe they make binding offers without JP signing off. Just my 2 cents.

He's such a great athlete...but that's all he really does well..is be an athlete. Wolfe did 4 & 2 as well but his efficiency numbers are still ok. Probably still just isn't playing tough enough to get the minutes. It will be interesting to see how Paige does.

There are definitely several D1 programs that could use Paige. Hell..Marist could use him.

If Patsos ran Paige off, why didn't he do it last spring rather than wasting a scholarship and a year of Paige's eligibility this season?Did he expect a big jump that just never materialized?

JO left and he thought he needed him Good point. Silas would've started but wouldn't have played as much as JO.

Every decision is on his shoulders. Hiring his good friend, and putting too much faith in him, was a very costly decision. Cluess is good because Grasso finds him the perfect players for his system. JP needs to be more accountable for final Yay/nays on recruiting. 100% agreed

That is an objective post and accurate. On the positive note he's also brought in Wright, Nico and Wormley. I hope Smithen and Joseph work out well. Richards I don't know enough about.
A bit more selectivity and diligence will go along way in extending JPs longevity with Siena. Three or four very big spots to fill next year.

I have to think it'd be much easier to fill four shoes than three. Not a lot of one legged D1 basketball players out there. Or three legged ones for that matter.

He seems like he's got heavy feet and is undersized. espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/52436/kidani-brutusHe likely won't rebound well and will probably not be that great on defense based on his HS stats. And his 2 pt finishing ability probably won't be that good. However, he could provide solid 3pt shooting and some ball handling. He seems like a miniature version of Ryan Oliver with all the things that would come with being a miniature version of Ryan Oliver like a little more quickness but being a worse rebounder and less effective shot contester.
