I'm fine with the time but after the BS buyout with Mitch I have no faith in the schools ability to properly negotiate.

Money talks . . . D'Arg had no problems raising the $40k for the CBI . . . Obviously the fanbase with the big checkbooks had no issue with the extension

Jimmy is no dummy. He gets to the right spots in Loudonville where money hangs out and plays enough rounds ay Wolferts and Schuyler

LMAO! You should write stuff for SNL. Thanks HJ, it's always good to start the day with a chuckle. No one was calling Patsos. 9 years in the MAAC and not an offer until Siena bit. LMFAO! He's a MAAC lifer! How many haters are getting paid six figures to coach basketball?

One of the few times agree with Papi. Start holding the AD and admin accountable. Was no reason for extension, if we are being told everything.

Hey Paps - all im saying is that the 2 year extension was not needed, I don't get this admin it's why the program has struggled. Patsos wasn't going anywhere. Why not see how he handles the departure of Long Wright Bisping and JO. His recruiting has been mediocre outside of Wright and Nico. Hold his feet to the fire ......

Like it or not, a coach has to have at least 4yrs going forward under contract to convince recruits that the coach will be there for their careers. The guarantee buy-out detail is between the admin and the coach and not public info and would have little bearing on a recruit's decision. Recruits like Basabe often specify an unwritten contingency that should the coach leave, like Fran did, they would be free to transfer. Those facts don't get put out to the public either.

This situation makes me think of the old saying "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me"

OR....maybe someone called D'Arg this week and asked permission to speak to Jimmy? Stanford did open up and someone is going to CA so it's logical I was thinking more "Siena-related"

What bothers me the most is that Patsos has a pretty bland MAAC resume and really hasn't recruited all that well outside of Wright and Nico at Siena. So given the below recap why would anyone be excited about a contract extension. 12 years is a pretty good sampling of who you are as a coach.... Why do some think he'll improve? Serious question. To me it screams mediocre.
Jimmy Patsos after 12 Years in the MAAC MAAC Accomplishments: 0 First Place Finishes (MAAC Titles Regular Season) 2 Second Place Finishes 3 Thirds Place Finishes 0 Fourth Place Finishes 2 Fifth Place Finishes 5 Sixth or Lower Place Finishes 1 MAAC Tournament Championship Post Season: 1 NCAA Appearance 3 āCā Tournament Appearances Winning Percentage: Loyola - .518 Siena - .505 MAAC Life Time - .514

I've got no problem with people questioning Jimmy and his time at Siena but the Loyola record is overblown. Nobody wins at Loyola. It is a dumpster fire. Jimmy was 145-135 but take out year one when he went 6-22 after taking over a one win team and his record was 139-113 which is incredible considering their basketball history. It is truly one of the toughest places to win at in D1.
Fran was 90-87 at UNCG. Hence, the .500 Fran nickname. But he raised his game with Siena's resources. Nobody wins at Loyola or UNCG.
Jimmy needs to continue to raise his game at Siena to be successful no question. But using the Loyola record to fit a narrative is silly IMO.

Why would we worry about convincing recruits any coach would have 4 years? That revolving door in the arc is about to go into warp speed over the next few weeks, kids transfer all the time per some here. If you are a high school junior, who cares about the tenure of the coach that recruited you? It's more likely you will leave or be recruited over anyway.

Jimmy needs to continue to raise his game at Siena to be successful no question. But using the Loyola record to fit a narrative is silly IMO. Fair enough. Ok toss out the first year he's just above 500 at 550. He still has 0 1st place / MAAC reg season crowns and only 1 MAAC Tournament championship in 11 yrs. To me Patsos at Siena represents more of Loyola North program than a Siena program under Fran Paul or Mike (my biggest concern based on what I've seen so far). Looking at his recruiting over the last 3 years and the turnover what makes you think things are about to change? Again serious question. I'm trying to see what all the pro Patsos people are seeing.

Would be interesting to know how many MAAC coaches have moved to greener $$$ pastures in those 12 years.
