Gives us a chance to play good non conference teams that we have a shot at beating on a home court. They were horrible last year it's not like they just won it--- I don't understand why fans dontbembrace these games. There are 11 teams in the maac now and with our coach the chances of ever making it back to the ncaa or even the nit are pretty slim. As we saw last year you never know what next year will bring -- the team earned this slot so they should take it-- pretty simple really. Boy you must really hate Patsos. I think you may only remember what you want as well. LOL The consensus of knowledgeable fans this year was 20 to 21 wins and top 4 even before Wright went down. Wright goes down for 15 games and the team achieves the preseason expectations of the fans. Would it have been nice to exceed the expectations? Sure, but don't you think that Patsos had something to do with the team's record. I expect that Siena will get to the NCAAs with Patsos and maybe more than once before he moves on. Don't be bitter, just enjoy the ride and support the team. I believe even better things are coming. If the team makes the NCAAs will that change your opinion of Patsos or is it just him and not the Siena record/achievements?

This was only year 3 of the 5 year plan. I think its right on schedule. If I'm Siena I'd be more concerned about the plummeting attendance figures

Albany afraid to be in same bracket as Siena- cant say I blame Willie Wooden Funny thing that could happen is if both made final Siena may have to play 2 games SEFCU. No problem, and I'd even prefer it. Give Siena a chance to beat them twice on their court in addition to UA having to buy those two games.

Albany is not buying one game in CBI--let alone 2-- did you see the attendance for Albany's 1st round home to lose to a weak Hartford team? Programs at Albany's level seldom pay for home games, they dont draw enough fans, Hell Siena will be hard pressed to draw enough to break even on these games- for whatever reason these C tournaments games seldom draw anywhere. Although I do think a Siena / UA game would draw decent at TUC..and that game would be a UA's fans dream-- open seating 1st come first serve for tickets People are forgetting, in addition to ticket purchases Siena actually have sponsors who contribute too. Siena may not make any money on these tournaments but the experience and more important TV exposure is the bigger benefit. Think of it as advertising expense. This may help Siena's pool of applicants. If course going to and winning ncaa games would be better but these lower tier tourneys can still impact applications (just not as material).

I don't get going to a tourney that they've already won. I mean if it's the only option then fine, but what momentum does winning a tourney that they won 2 years ago really build? maybe I'm wrong but I don't know. You're right what fun is it to win the same tourney more than once? We don't need to clutter the TU with all those cbi champions banners like Duke, Kentucky, UCLA do with those NCAAs banners littering their gyms/arenas. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I do realize these lower tier tourneys aren't as prestigious as the NCAAs or even the NIT, but it's all we have at the moment and I say why not, let's go for a repeat in the cbi. Come on, who's with me!!!! Aaahhh!!!! Where's the dead zone guys when you need them to reenact that Animal House seen (when the going gets thought, the tought get going; Who's with me?).

Oh, I almost forgot, there will be at least three in attendance Tuesday night. I paid for our three tickets earlier today.
Someone let Papi know Siena's guaranteed at least three to show up and support the team.

He has won the Maac 1 time in 12 seasons. That's less frequent than the # of teams. So if they are going to make the ncaas only about 8% of the time, might as well win the cbi every now and then when you can. I think I attend more games than most but I don't think the coach is capable of managing more then 8 players at a time (hence the upgrade when wright was out and why he feels it's appropriate to. Waste scholarships and red shirt marginal players.). Hey there was a time when I didn't think he could manage five so I guess that's progress. It is what it is we will never be dominant under patsos jmo but he'll win enough for me to keep watching. To answer your question if he makes it to the ncaas as a 13 seed or better twice or wins in an ncaa second round I will gladly eat humble pie and anoint him with the rest of the great Siena coaches but I highly doubt it will happen --- and I've never been wrong in these assessments in 25 years of watching Siena hoops...

Well I'll make it four and I'm sure with the suite seating HJ will be there. That gets it up to 5.

I don't disagree that Jimmy hasn't won the maac often but he has at least won it more in the past 12 years than at least 7 or 8 other maac teams in those same 12 years. Some maac teams have never won the maac, ever. I still believe Jimmy will finally be able to get Siena to a perennial top 3 finisher over the next 4-6 years. Then within those 6 years gets Siena to NCAAs or NIT for 3/4 of them.

If you don't think he's not the guy to get you to the NCAAs why not? Mike Deane made one NCAA tournament in 8 years (and coached the best player and another top 5 guy in Siena history) and is raved about. Don't think he'd make it here today.
