We need to recruit more athletic kids. I'm hoping Smithen and Richards help in that area. I couldn't give a rats ass how Iona and Monmouth choose to run their programs. As you correctly pointed out successful Siena coaches had no problem recruiting and competing. It all boils down to how much effort you want to spend tracking down players and how well you can sell them on all things that are Siena. There we go Oneindian- really like the Jonathan Joseph commitment. Very athletic kid , who should be able to give us quality depth at 3. We are shaping up as a very good defensive team next year who should be able to really press opposing teams- the additions of Smithin, WB, Richard’s and now Joseph will make Saints as athletic a team as you’ll find in MAAC From the short clip I watched I really like that he can attack the hoop off the dribble. A glaring weakness outside of Nico and a healthy Wright (Wormley can go to the hoop but it's usually in transition). I'm all for anyone that makes us tougher on the defensive side of the ball. Can the kid shoot it at all? The clip was 99% takes to the basket and 3 years old.

CAM AND PAIGE WILL BE HIS SENIORS....CHEW ON THAT Not really. Stay tuned. And there it is. Couldn't say anything until it was official, but the commitment was imminent. I'll leave you guys to speculate as to who won't be returning. Suffice it to say, the player in question was told some time ago that he won't be at Siena next season.

I haven't seen Jim Hart at a Siena game in a few years. He had court side seats for years. Was there during the Fran years and Ubiiles. Haven't seen him since. Spoke to him at one of the February home games - either Canisius or Iona.

Hart was at a talk Jimmy gave in October that I attended and I have seen him at a few games including sitting in the box up behind me.

Sarcasm?! What a load of crap! Jimmy has done a GREAT job for Siena- especially when you consider the lack of talent & athleticism from the Mitch era! This was the first year people can once again be proud of Siena Basketball! In large part because of talent that was recuited! And it's only going to get better under Jimmy! He's doing a fine job. The crap saying he was left no talent is a real stretch. The prior coach was left much less. Please not this again. But since you briught it up, please tell the leftovers Rossiter (POY), Anosike (1st Team All MAAC) and Jackson (3rd Team All MAAC) inherited by the unfortunate prior coach that they were not much. Oh, and don't forget the momentum and publicity from 3 straight MAAC championships and 2 NCAA wins that was frittered away. Hope you fixed your buddy, that poor prior coach, a nice dinner when he was in town last week.

MP nice optimism....you don't have to like the staff but I am finding myself skipping over your posts because you are so angry. That is sad because I really use to enjoy reading them.
Team just won 21 games which is nice to see again and the program is moving in a good direction. The landscape of college basketball has changed, we may not like the change but it happened and Siena has to evolve with it. As for JUCOs not all of us are bad people, or have problems. I left my original school after a longer stay because I realized I made the wrong decision (the overnight trip was not enough for me to realize this) 17 and 18 yo kids do sometimes, not very often but sometimes make the wrong decisions.
As for kids coming and going in the program. I hate to see it but it is going to happen as kids want to play (and they have more options with 300+ schools) and coaches now more then ever have to win. Look at this board would anyone be happy going 10-23 and saying but we recruit really nice kids and ensure they are here for all 4 years? I feel players need to hold up their end of the bargain as well.
The dog pile left was not an easy one to clean up.

My questioning/dissatisfaction with this announcement comes from two facts - we don't have any open ships so I am certain one or more players will be "encouraged" to leave and secondly, this staff has a demonstrated history of less than stellar due diligence when it comes to evaluating transfers - case in point Cole. I was just raising an obvious question as to why this particular athlete took the path he did.
