Great video. Family values, hard work, being fiscally conservative in your household, faith in God, having a healthy life style (no drugs), saving for your children, etc. - it all sounds pretty simple, people create a lot of their own problems making life more difficult. We all make mistakes. It's no surprise that the older people get the more conservative we become. Usually we get a little smarter too.

Mr. Gutfeld is one of the FOX News "stovepipes" whose biggest claim to fame is the fact that he was able to keep a steady job for almost three decades - WOW! The Rat's summary sets valued criteria that liberals share as well. I note he omitted "charitable", "compassionate", "open to comprimise" and "reasonable"! Gutfeld's treatment of the Right being "risk averse" failed to acknowledge the risk the Right took to "fix" Iraq and Afghanistan. When the Left expressed major concerns (that all proved to be 100% valid as proven by history) about going into Iraq they were summarily labeled "unpatriotic"!

I knew that rant would piss off some left wing loons! Unfortunately, he's just a silly old man, with a bit of a temper. Being "open to compromise" and "reasonable", you of all people say that with a straight face? You are the least compromising or charitable with your words and actions! Just an out of control bully for the most part.

Do you ever answer critics with actual facts? OBTW, thanks for the kind words above, you obviously enjoy having the bully pulpit.

There is no evidence that I have ever seen that people become "smarter" as they age. More experienced yes. More closed minded yes, definitely. But smarter? No!
Stay in your cellar CR and continue to spew rhetoric from 30 years ago. I don't think that rhetoric applied back then but I do think the world has changed some in the last few decades maybe it is time to consider new ideas.
For all the conservative "independents" remember that the left refers to themselves as "progressives". They consider new ideas that might apply to this changing world. Radical! DANGEROUS! LMOA!

Maybe it's packaged differently, but it always the same idea with the same result.

We all have strong opinions on many issues, and that's fine. But there's no need for name-calling or throwing insults at each other. That accomplishes nothing, and proves nothing. Let's stick to basketball, although many of us can't even find common ground there.

Your "diplomatic" post is insulting and a bit self-righteous. You're the reasonable guy/gal stepping in and declaring the winner - stop it, a silly post at best. With regard to sticking to basketball this is the "off topic" section.

I am intrigued that both sides seem confident in that their side is always right and have to go to name calling and declarations that they have all the right answers.

I haven't been in this trench in a while. Seems to never change. Indicative of the national level of politics. Want something uniting? The country is becoming an embarrassment..a laughing stock around the world. As corrupt as most. Moreso a joke because so many choose deny it

IMO he is a moderate willing to compromise to at least accomplish incremental change - in the right direction.

The country is becoming an embarrassment..a laughing stock around the world. As corrupt as most. Moreso a joke because so many choose deny it Since you chose my post to come back in the trench, I will go a little further. Not sure what you mean by 'seems to never change'. I assume you mean on this board. Did you expect people to change their fundamental opinions/beliefs? And, I don't know as if I would go so far as to say we have become an embarrassment across the world, and I don't know as if I care except for a few allies. But I will say the leadership at the top is most responsible for any embarrassment we may be incurring. I am more concerned with the debt we are leaving our children and the way we are going about solving the 'income inequity' which is a great contributor to this debt as well as changing the whole concept of America that was a true leader (though sometimes misguided) in the world. I think we should still lead, but it should be thoughtful. One example is the declaration a few years ago that we need to pull out all troops from Iraq, Afghanistan and the Middle East in general and just go the same route of blaming Bush. Now we see some of the affects of that and we suddenly decide to keep some troops and even add some in other places. Not saying that is a wrong decision but it just seems ingenuous after such strong, 'right' declarations not too long ago. Turns out it was mostly political posturing. Again, back to my opinion that each side is 'always right'.
