If we moved on Rhoades early enough we had a decent shot at him.....instead we dicked around. He heard the numbers, and withdrew his name. This job is nowhere near as great as you think it is. We pay our assistants shit, so you won't get the most qualified. 60K in recruiting? Thats a joke. Think about it. Fran made 500K right, then we paid Mitch $250 for 3 years. Where did that extra money go? Not towards the basketball program, I guarantee that. The Grotto

Another reason we should have went with Rhoades or even Toole for that matter. HUNGRY coaches on the move up..... Patsos doesn't scout or prep for games well, not a good in game coach, poor game mgmt and lazy recruiter .... Someone please remind me why we hired this guy? Sounds like a lazy hire to me we .... I think he's more interested in talking and schmoozing than basketball he's sure as hell is no Fran. Talk is CHEAP This is he make or break year we'll know exactly what we have .... I'm not into this 500 BS. Looking at what he's done at Rice so far, Siena missed out not getting him.

Patsos also came in at a much larger starting salary than Fran did if I am not mistaken so yes he needs to put up or shut up. Oh wait fans aren't allowed to criticize the coach and he doesn't care anyway, but makes a point of saying it over and over. He's a very public figure in Albany, which he pushes much more than any previous coach, and thus is fair game. Or it could just be that games aren't won/loss in June so maybe we should wait until the fall before we do the whole sky is falling act? Or consider that unless you get a once in a lifetime coach like Fran it takes a few years for a program to be built up. Or maybe learn that you can be successful without being Fran. Killing a coach every 2 years isn't going to help Siena at all.

Half the posters here think that if Siena basketball will send you to the title game each year on its own. Its just up to the coach not to screw that up. For Fran vs Mitch pay, Siena was at its extreme limits paying Fran. And that's when 8K came every night. To give the next coach after that 500K (heard it was closer to 450, but that's not the point) right off the bat is dumb and not sustainable for Siena.

This guy is alll over the place in criticizing players one game and then after he gets criticized for that, so he blames himself for everything but not really sincere. He whines about the on campus facilities, jumps on players like a maniac, his lineups change a lot. Giving scholarships tomkids no one else wants. The way the Ruland thing went down was bad - he should have had that either sold beforehand or not moved forward with him. I just don't think he is too good at manging a program.

Guys, Fran is long gone. I have news for you, if you think Siena or any maac team can have a run like he did you're delusional.
Root for Jordan Speith to win the US open tomorrow. He should win the grand slam if he wins tomorrow.

Patsos isn't on the right track? What happened to all the "he won 20 games in year one and won the CBI" talk? He's brought in some talent in Wright, Long and Clareth. You can see a base forming, to argue that he isn't on the right track because everyone got injured his second year is just playing chicken little. Expect Siena to finish mid-pack this year and continue to grow. Or ask why he hasn't beaten Ohio state yet and call for his head. You do you.

I had the impression that Jimmy had a stable developing program at Loyola. In total it was a .500 record but that team was no longer a mid-pack maac team at all. That is why he was hired not because JD was too lazy to find a better guy. I was in favor of his being hired because I want a stable highly competitive team at Siena. I understand that that will take time and still believe that Jimmy can get it done. If he can do it at Loyola he can do it here. It might take more than one or two recruiting classes to get it done but I think he can and will succeed.

Siena fans don't have that kind of patience. We had a very good first year, everyone agrees. Tough 2nd year, attributed to a lot of things. Let's see how it turns out with his kids.

Now this is a reasonable idea.
