One of the disappointing to things to me about the ship to Cam - was fact we needed more talent and having ship at mid season would have allowed Siena to take a transfer ( something in Jimmy's wheel house) so anyway Jimmy was at Loyola 9 years so I thought I'd take a look at his recruiting. most of his ALL MAAC players were transfers
his best players Andre Collins - transfer Gerald Brown - transfer Jamal Barney transfer Erik Etherly- transfer
Jimmy had several players make all rookie team that were solid MAAC player but not ALL MAAC quality, he even had one MAAC ROY in Brian Rudolph a player that committed to Providence and lost his scholarship when he stabbed someone, Rudolph went on to solid MAAC career but not ALL MAAC quality
As far as I can tell he only recruited 2 ( 4 year players) all MAAC players at Loyola- Robert Olsen a ONE TIME 3RD TEAMER
Dylon Cormier a player that will forever live in Siena lore ( and was legit 1st teamer)

I stand by my assumption that Jimmy has the ability to recruit good kids but he doesnt't have the appetite and work ethic for chasing these kids down and out working the other guy. He just doesn't seem to bring that Gym Rat mentality that mat successful coaches have.

It sounds like Mitch should be the lead assistant coach.

It sounds like Mitch should be the lead assistant coach. He is, at Fairfield.

I don't worry about who Jimmy signed at Loyola (I think Fran only signed Kyle Hines at UNCG who was top recruit). But Fran raised his game at Siena so far Jimmy has not. I think he can clearly close the deal but is not the grinder recruiting people said he was when he got hired. Hopefully Jordan Watson and to a lesser extent Ben Asher can get him in with talented kids who he can seal the deal with. He also has to fully use all of Siena's resources(I.e. TUC). His Siena career depends on it!

It seems that Greg has been key to a bunch of recruits or Fishers coach has too. Is Lucious s tenacious recruiter? Does Jinmy give them a good strategy to get after it?

His Siena career depends on it! Loyola had Baltimore in its backyard. Siena doesn't. Fran moved up in conferences. Patsos didnt. Patsos still has at least 2 years left at Siena. Maybe you should ease up with the comparasions to Fran since they are nowhere near the same level of coaches and instead work on your pitch to your mom about raising your allowance so you can go to a game this year.

Patsos also came in at a much larger starting salary than Fran did if I am not mistaken so yes he needs to put up or shut up. Oh wait fans aren't allowed to criticize the coach and he doesn't care anyway, but makes a point of saying it over and over. He's a very public figure in Albany, which he pushes much more than any previous coach, and thus is fair game.

I think we are now in the "quiet period" where only recruits, previous losing coaches, posters with other views, and administrators can be criticized. The "quiet period" should have an "open period" during the next week when the staff announcements, etc. should be announced. They were supposed to be put out last week but some signoffs were still in process or so I was told. Following the brief "open period" we will enter a longer "quiet period" that will hold until after classes start.

Another reason we should have went with Rhoades or even Toole for that matter. HUNGRY coaches on the move up.....
Patsos doesn't scout or prep for games well, not a good in game coach, poor game mgmt and lazy recruiter .... Someone please remind me why we hired this guy? Sounds like a lazy hire to me we .... I think he's more interested in talking and schmoozing than basketball he's sure as hell is no Fran. Talk is CHEAP
This is he make or break year we'll know exactly what we have .... I'm not into this 500 BS.

Why would Rhoades come to a college thats recruiting budget is $60,000?? Pretty sure that puts us in the middle of the pack. Doesn't make sense for a program most expect to win, and be at the top every year.

He heard the numbers, and withdrew his name. This job is nowhere near as great as you think it is. We pay our assistants shit, so you won't get the most qualified. 60K in recruiting? Thats a joke. Think about it. Fran made 500K right, then we paid Mitch $250 for 3 years. Where did that extra money go? Not towards the basketball program, I guarantee that.
