Cornell's 3rd leading scorer and 2nd leading assist man is CBA's Galal Cancer. They are pretty big by Ivy standards as well. This Siena team will have problems with them.

I hope we see more minutes this coming game from our Junkyard Dog after seeing his first game with real playing time last night. We need some more gritty badass play right about now from someone. He looks like he can really help the team with a little more experience. (A better shooting % by the team would help also)

Siena is in big need of a win before Christmas. I'll be at the TUC Tuesday, giving them all the support I can - I hope you all are there, too. If the kids play as hard as they can, and we support them as much as we can, there isn't anything else we can do.
Our program needs something positive right now. Let's rally for the Saints on Tuesday and pull off a short handed upset! Go Saints!

How expectations have been lowered if beating Cornell is an "upset".

Papi, good point, but here is where I am - if you take away 4 of the top 7 players from Siena, beating anyone with that shorthanded a team is an "upset". If we were at full strength, I hear you.

Stop being a contrarian, Fact is Silas- Brett and Lavon all started last year and Cole was 6th leading scorer -- take that many players out of any D1 teams line up and it affects you

And I think the remaining players did an awesome job last night. I just think certain people try to make the loses look even bigger than they are. Siena has won games with 6 players, I think these 8 can actually be successful.

That's fine-- but you are such a nit picker-- you got the gist of what Hoopsforever was saying-- and whether its 4 out out of 7 or 4 out of 8.,, the gist of the post was correct, and you wonder why you struggle to get along with people on this board As for you point Siena can win with 8 I agree

I think what remains can be strong.

That would imply I care enough to struggle. I get along fine with greenblood, papi, and clickclack. I don't have problems with 90% of the members. There are a few who like to argue and picked me as a target. Oh, well.

Anyway back to Cornell this is a game Siena absolutely needs to win. Cornell is much improved but we need to win at home. We've already had two stinkers at home against non-league opponents. For Papi, yes, this is a MUST win (for a regular season game anyway).
When Lavon comes back (probably for Bucknell on Dec. 28) I would start for the rest of the season:
PG: Wright SG: Oliver SF: Poole PF: Long C: JO
Bench: Hymes, WB, Paige, White
This line-up gives you size and shooters. I don't want this to become a Lavon SF/PF debate. He can play both but with our lack of depth upfront the smart money is playing him at PF and bringing WB off the bench.
Again we've got 20 regular season games and 18 MAAC games to go - 11 games left at home before the tournament. A lot of hoops to be played. I still think we can and will enter the MAAC tournament with a winning overall record and finish in the top 4. But it is TIME to get the job done now. We've lost players but still have enough good ones to be respectable.
Let's go Saints!!!

I think this is another game where Imoh and Brett will really be missed. Last year @ Cornell (I was there) we squeaked out a W because Imoh had a career game. I agree that Cancer will be a problem and will most likely find a way to get JO in early foul trouble. As I recall, Brett fouled out in about 5 minutes in Ithaca. Hopefully Paige gets more run along with WB and Mo finds his 'jo' and gets on track.

I believe if no injuries occurred this season we would have won at least 3-4 more games. No body knows for sure either way, just a hunch. So yes, having 4 key players/resreves IMO does materially impact this team's W-L.

For some strange reason I feel good about this game. I liked the fact we played hard at Radford. I have a feeling we shoot much better at home
