take 4 of the top 8 players off any MAAC team and you will see a dramatic drop off in performance -- hell losing one player and you are not as strong, lose 2 and it gets challenging, lose 3 you are in big trouble, lose 4 and its nowhere near the same team

You guys are splitting hairs – it’s pretty clear the top would have been JO-Brett- Lavon- Poole -Wright-Oliver –Silas and Cole -- WB wouldn’t have played much more than spot minutes ( and before you say that’s not what this board says) go back and read my posts about players over 6’8” in the MAAC – so anyway we are currently playing without 4 of our top 8--- and 3 of our top 4 big men.. that is going to affect any team and not in a positive way. It doesn't take a basketball genius to see we could have absorbed the loss of Imoh or Brett but not both together, and once you add no Lavon to mix, the injuries become a train wreck- this is not the team we envisioned in October On point and articulate. Thank you Tony, beautifully said. This is where we are. Now let's go out Tues. night and give our kids some strong support!

And although I disagree a bit with the depth of the impact of silas and Bisping.... Long added to that was devastating. Throw in the Cole debacle and you have rubble

But I would not expect one of those returnees to have been the defensive presence for whom I gave the stats above. You can believe every word that comes out of JP's mouth if you want. I learned not to early last year when he gave about 4 different starting lineups before the season began. I prefer to believe the numbers/minutes I see for myself after the fact and then base my expectations on that. Yeah, hindsight is great. It must make you feel brilliant. I don't need to believe Jimmy, I know Javion was ahead of Imoh to start last year and would be again this year. I think Javion would be 3rd big on the team behind bisping then Silas. He's way too soft, can't even rebound or finish in traffic. He's serviceable for now though

Throw in the Cole debacle and you have rubble SF I have to respectfully disagree with you re Brett. Bretts loss and health set back had a significant impact, At the start of the yr you could tell he was not 100 percent. If he was playing the way he did last year this season would most likely have gotten off to a different start. When he's playing well it opens up stuff for Lavon and others. It wasn't a coincidence that against QU he started to look like the Brett of last yr and the team had their best game to date. I have plenty of issues with JP but right now he has nothing to work with and I doubt anyone would have much success with a roster depleted to this level.

But its not what people who saw off season work outs and the preseason, or the head coach thought. Again, hindsight is wonderful.

Really who are these mysterious people ? I was probably the biggest proponent of JO in off season and I was hoping for 5 and 5 from JO-- he is scoring slightly better and not rebounding as well. Right now we need JO to "bring it" every game.

If you hoped for 5 & 5 from Javion, you must have had him ahead of Silas. But since I said it, it must be wrong. Happy holidays, tonyjunkie.

You must have a reading problem- I expected a 3 headed center this year in JO/Silas and Brett. I was hoping for 5/5 from JO-- its not like I pegged him a superstar.. but then again this is just your morning stir up some shit thread I will say I underestimated Silas loss on defensive side of ball, even playing 15 min a game ..

some of the rebounding issues arent JO/Brandwijk issues. If you watch, both spend a good amount of time outside the paint. Evidenced by JO taking those 10-12 ft jumpers and Brandwijk stretching out at the 3 pt line. Often times the shots go up and neither are in position for the rebound ... a lot of which is timing and system related. Some of it is on our shooters not recognizing no one is anywhere near in position for a rebound. It isnt the lone reason for lack of rebounds but it accounts for a LOT. Even when they are down low they are posting up and .... their man is automatically in position to box out. Guys like Long and Wright etc are slicing through the lanes with their man often trailing them. Easier to rebound when your man is behind you and not already setup for the box out.

JO hasn't been rebounding well, and WB is struggling rebounding out of zone. He stands there instead of putting body on someone- he gives up a lot of offensive rebounds? As he plays more and gets more comfortable I expect him to improve..as for JO- just hoping for consistent effort.. the system was fine rebounding last year-- whats missing? Silas and Brett and now Lavon - that's 16 boards a game missing..WB is trying to replace them and he clearly isn't ready-- his biggest rebound game of the year is 3 boards once and a few 2 rebound games

Rebounding has been down all year, Lavon has missed 1 game and Brett 3. Brett was down about 2rpg from last year. Marquis is down about half a board per game even after a 7 board game. It's a team issue.

I have already expressed my concerns on the defensive side. That 2-3 zone ... or any zone really causes laziness in rebounding not to mention mid range to long range shots coming off the rim deeper. Long rebounds... out of position thanks to the zone. Coaching needs to play a role in that. They are young and definitely need to work on putting a body on someone... anyone as soon as a shot goes up. Rebounding in a zone requires constant focus on every shot and finding someone to put a body on. Natural reaction is to turn and read the ball coming off the rim.
