You should have made better investments I guess. With 190k in income from investments he must have paid a shitload along the way getting to this point. Maybe those crazy Tea Party nuts looking for a flat tax have a point ehhh? Wrong again - he didn't work a bit for it - it was gifted to him to avoid taxes on an inheritance. They saved a shitload rather than paying a shitload along the way. Some of you guys have absolutely no clue as to what happens in the real world. Wow! How does this become your money? Or your concern? So money I leave to my child is unearned? Your thinking is pure poison. The incentive to save and create wealth and a legacy would be destroyed in your world. He didn't inherit it moron. It was gifted to him many years in advance of a yet to occur death. It was gifted to avoid taxes. And his living off it continues the tax avoidance plan. It pisses me off because he voices a "pay your fair share of taxes" to live in this great country line while doing the opposite. Is it legal? Yes. I cited it as an example of how the very rich live off capital gains and pay very little to the tax man. I'd opt for a 10% and zero social security annual fee in a heart beat. The right's "trickle down" economy hides the necessary starting action "suck up"!
