The Tea Party tumor in the Republican party has metastisized as evidenced by the primary loss Eric Cantor suffered today at the hands of a Tea Party Brat!!!! Life is good - that arrogant SOB has gotten his comeuppance and now his Republican buddies can sweat themselves. It will be fun watching a splintered Republican party fignt amongst themselves. There is a God! America is a winner tonight!

m.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2014/06/10/david-brat-just-beat-eric-cantor-who-is-he/"David" beat Goliath, you would think that some dems on this board would at least appreciate that. In fact, I think that if his affiliation was not the tea party but the Democratic Party, that many, including some reasonable dems on this board, would support him. MP, of course would not be part of that group. Unfortunately, I don't think he has a chance. He is a religious family man with traditional values. Unfortunately that has become passé.

Rat, you are partially correct. As I don't agree with his policy re immigration, I would not vote for Brat in the general election but if I was living in Cantor's Congressional District, I would have voted for Brat yesterday in a heartbeat. Virginia holds open primaries so I would have been able and happy to vote against Cantor. The laughable thing about this primary is that Cantor spent $5MILLION in a negative campaign against an unknown giving him name recognition that his (Brat's war chest) $300K would not have. Cantor's arrogance was once again evident as he was not even in his district for the primary! He was in DC measuring the drapes in Boehner's office for what he assumed would be his new position in the not too distant future. Now the Republicans will have to decide to give up that seat or dump a ton of cash into a campaign supporting a total unknown - should be fun.

You agree with illegal immigration? It's that simple. Give me a yes or no answer.

Brat still has a good chance to win the general election. The GOP will easily retain the house. It also appears the GOP has a strong chance to retake the senate. As for 2016 who knows..but the GOP can't throw the Hispanic vote away otherwise we're looking at Hillary Clinton. We need some common sense immigration reform.

You agree with illegal immigration? It's that simple. Give me a yes or no answer. That is not a simple yes or no question for all the various aspects of the immigration problem. The children that came here via their parents' actions and have grown up here and become fully assimilated into this society should not be simply deported. Many, many Americans (likely some staunch rich Republicans in that mix) have made lots and lots of money off of the work these immigrants performed for them with the full knowledge of their status. These people worked hard and contributed to this country and don't deserve to be cast out. Where was all the righteous indignation when their paychecks were being prepared and distributed? I don't pretend to have the full solution but I don't agree that one solution fits all.

I'll ignore the "phony" insult - not sure how you can come to that characterization - another example of you knowing nothing and then drawing conclusions based on that void. As to the question about those still coming in - again, a simple answer (even you might understand) - secure the border - expensive yes but it's the only effective way to keep people out. I think the Republicans are trying to appear to be humanizing themselves so they too can whore for the Latino vote. Don't understand why you have focused on only the Mexicans but then the comment did come from you and you are very single minded and shallow.

I think the majority of illegal immigration is coming from Mexico, not too many Irish, Italians, Germans, Poles and etc. coming to this country illegally.
Again, another idiotic response by you, the implication in your last sentence, although not the least bit subtle, is that I am a racist or bigot. You are pathetic, that crap may work with the fools that dems indoctrinate and recruit to vote for nonsensical policies, but is does not work with anyone with a brain.

Well you got the geography correct - most, if not all, come through Mexico but you once again fall on your own sword when you seem to ignore the other illegals that come from other Central American countries via Mexico. You must be having another bad hair day or your meds have run out if you glean anything from my previous post that implies or states you are a racist or a bigot. Ignorant is not equivalent to racist or bigot although they do line up to some degree. "Single minded and shallow" is a nice way to say "ignorant" and that is what I was saying and not implying. Perhaps you have some internal demons, known only to you, that bring out guilt and enables you to misinterpret what others say to line it up with how you view yourself.

Another idiotic response. The Mexican boarder on the Guatemala side is more restrictive to immigration than it is on the Mexican US border. Let's take care of OUR border and stop incentivizing illegals from coming over to this country, and most importantly, enforce the laws regarding illegals.
Another typical response from you. Tits on a bull, you are useless and your sense of reasonableness is impenetrable.

Tits on a bull, you are useless and your sense of reasonableness is impenetrable. God, you are so easy! Go to the full article linked below or just read one short segment that will give you a more accurate picture of how easy it is for people from Central American countries to make their way to the US/Mexico border. www.wola.org/commentary/2014_mexico_border_tripFebruary 19, 2014 Tenosique, Mexico Here’s where I was today: right in that odd corner-shaped border zone where Tabasco, Mexico meets Petén, Guatemala. We’ve been pointing out that, as U.S. Border Patrol statistics confirm, we are witnessing a huge exodus from Central America. The number of Guatemalan, Salvadoran, and especially Honduran citizens trying to get to the United States has shot upward in the past three years or so. The almost totally porous border zone near Tenosique, Tabasco is one of the early stages of that exodus. Tenosique lies at the beginning of one of the tracks for the trains that migrants ride northward, usually perched precariously on top. Having already traveled through Guatemala’s sparsely populated Petén region, they cross this notional border and walk 35 miles along the main road to Tenosique and the trains. We saw dozens of them during two hours of driving. Staff at migrant shelters in Tenosique and Palenque say that the population they are taking in is almost entirely Honduran—90 percent or more, even though we’re next to Guatemala, not Honduras. Many Honduran migrants say they have no choice but to leave because they have been threatened by maras, and the country’s collapsed security forces can’t, or won’t, protect them.

Your administration, pure genius. Katrina' of illegal immigrants flooding into border states daily nyp.st/1ofqv3tLMAO, you shot down your own previous post - read what you linked - where are they coming from and how do they get here - CENTRAL AMERICA - across the secure (your word) Guatamallan border! We need to fix it but the fix will require bipartisan support and your Republican buddies won't touch it - they are too busy trying to court the Latino vote - securing the border should be a slam dunk in terms of support but no, they want to fix the extremely difficult issue with those already here while allowing the influx to continue.
