I'd assume a lot of purple and gold at Hempstead, NY next week against Notre Dame.

# 1 ranked, but a three seed. Still a great win for UA. Now a Lacrosse, football, women's hoops and track school. Well done.

I won't say football for awhile because the program needs to rebuild to complete in the CAA. Isn't track and field program in a scandal? But the facilities are impressive for both programs.
Right now, UA is certainly know for its basketball (mens and women) and lacrosse.

Track and field has been very good much longer than lacrosse and both men's and women's bball. And even rebuilding for the new conference, football is a greater priority then bball. Poor Will is the red headed step child of UA athletics.

Sorry, I don't think some of you understand the meaning of the word, "rivalry" and how it pertains to Siena and UA. Do you think Louisville posters ask their fans to root for UK in any sport?? Alabama fans to cheer on good ole Auburn?? Duke fans to "bring home a W for UNC?" Should I go on and on??

Only if you want to embarrass yourself further. please, go on. let me know why the millions of fans in the school rivalries i mentioned, are wrong, like me, and you're right. Sorry but if you're a true blue Siena fan, you don't root for UAlbany in anything.....ask clickclack think that kid would ever root for Siena in anything? not a chance in hell, and I respect that because he's a die hard UA fan. All you got is your liberal pity card to play....so play it, and tell me why all those college rivalries i mentioned, and their fans, are "embarassing themselves." FREE LOVE for my man Hippie Hockeyguy!! LOVE everyone! Let's hope everyone wins!! More "particiapation awards" for our youth!! lol

Sent from my SPH-L710 using proboards sorry, but no you're not. doesn't mean you can't be a "good" fan of Siena, but die-hard? not a chance. same question goes out to you: Explain the "rivalries" I bought up. Do you think those schools root for their rival in any sport? you know that stuff goes on all over the country right? in the real athletic world. There's nothing wrong with being a fan of both schools, and rooting for all their teams, BUT how can you call yourself a "die-hard" Siena fan? ps--i see your a Red Sox fan by your profile pic. guess it's cool to root for the Yankees then too huh? What's the big deal?

UA is not in the MAAC - if they were, you would not see one congratulatory post on this board, IMO anyway. We, thankfully, only have to play them once a year and there is zero chance we would ever face each other in the tournament. The teams your post cited as examples of fierce no-holds barred rivalries are either intra-conference opponents or possible/likely matchups at some point in the big dance each year. UA's rise in athletics is a fact of life and we can only hope that it further stimulates and supports/maintains a similar, ongoing commitment at Siena - afterall, we want to stay the number 1 D1 program in the area and UA is, overall, making that more of a challenge. Keeping the lacrosse world focused on the capital region can only help us in recruiting.

I'll take the bait. Loiusville plays Kentucky in basketball and 22,000 out of 22,000 seats are sold at Rupp and tickets are being scalped out front for 3 times face value. THAT is a rivalry. UA plays Siena and 5,000 out of 15,000 seats are empty and 1/2 or more of the student body from both schools couldn't be bothered to show up. Rivalry? ehhh... not so much. In the summertime the Siena kids and the UA kids have played pick-up basketball in the past (don't know if they still do).. think the Dukies get together with the Heels? UA and Siena played each other in lacrosse (the sport in question by the way), how many showed up for "the rivalry"? Did YOU show up for the game HJ? BIG "rivalry" game you know...hope you enjoyed it. If your life is so hollow as to be defined by one mid-major basketball game a year, a game I might add that a number of posters on here would like to see discontinued, I truly feel sorry for you. Your redneck lack of class and sportsmanship should be an embarrasment to you, if that was the reason for your post. If the real reason was simply to take at shot a post that I made(and only because I made it) to try to prove yourself somehow a "superior fan" by attacking it, well good luck in your tiny little world.

The whole "rivalry" goes way deeper than just sports. It's a way of life. Sorry, I didn't state the obvious and say the UK/UL basketball game isn't on the same level as our AE/MAAC match-up. I forgot who I was talking to. It's all got to be spelled out for you.
As for the KIDS playing, of course they do, no one mentioned them in the rivalry. It's about the FANS that have been cheering for each school for decades. The kids at Duke/UNC are there for several months and out. (Ask MJ what he thinks about Duke) The football example (Bama/Auburn) is decided at birth. Do some research and see how many fans of either team would root for the other school, even in field hockey.
The only time the game and the word "discountinued," get bought up, is when each fanbase fights over location, ticket allotments etc....not lack of interest you twit.
And I can't believe what a racist you are calling those fans in the south, and me, REDNECKS?? Do you always make a habit of grouping people together based on their assummed beliefs based on location?? Wow, you're the Donald Sterling of Westchester!!

You are overall a far more accomplished D1 basketball program...as an overall athletic dept, Siena can't hold a candle to UA. That's just the truth...we passed you very long ago...

Talk about sports Siena has in common with Albany. That would be basketball and Lacrosse. Siena holds the upper hand in men's basketball and Albany has it on the women's side. I think it's fairly even in Lacrosse. I'm not sure they play each other in baseball, volleyball, or softball.
