Iorizzo say we need a "go to" guy next year. Jimmy says we currently don't have one. i think Poole can be that person

Wish we just had two more wins (Marist game but there were a bunch that hurt) 17-15 looks a lot better than 15-17. That ridiculous OOC schedule (playing what 10 out of 11 away from home and in the Old Spice in a rebuilding year) cost us a winning overall season. This season was very similar to Paul Hewitt's and Fran McCaffery's first season. Don't know how much more Jimmy could have gotten out of this group.
Now the fun (and pressure) begins...expectations have risen and that's a GREAT thing for a PROUD strong competitive mid-major basketball program.

One of the upperclassmen has to or the team will not be winning the maac championship next year. If not Poole perhaps Bisping if he improves as much as he did this year. Either way I expect the team to have a winning record and make some sort of post season next year.

Poole is probably better to be a robin rather than a batman. But he can be the guy to take the big shot. I'm not saying Cole will be a superstar but I'm confident he'll be a good enough player to take the pressure off Poole and force the defense to account for him rather than draping all over Poole.

Right, this is what I am counting on--- an extra threat will allow Poole a little more freedom next year. Or, someone else is going to have to step up to have a season beyond already higher expectations.

Canisius did not beat Siena because they had "a go to guy", they had five guys in double figures and outplayed Siena's "bigs" in the second half. Give me a team where there are multiple guys on the court who can beat you at any moment over one "go to guy" any day.

The "go to guy" is the reason why the others were open. Any Division 1 team has 5 players that can make open shots. Barron is a great player, but as Patsos said we made him work and its going to very difficult for Canisius to advance as a result. I do agree that it would be better to have multiple guys that can beat you but ideally you need to have both to compete at the level Siena has competed at during its best years.

During Sienas best years they had 4 players that could beat you scoring and a great distributor in Moore.

If you are implying that those teams did not have a "go to" guy, I will counter with Hasbrouck. Don't get me wrong, it took several orders of onions to beat Ohio State, but they never would have been served if Hasbrouck didn't score the final 5 Siena points in the second half, including a clutch corner 3 pointer. And while Tay hit the six memorable treys against Vanderbilt, Hasbrouck's 30 points kept the Commodores at bay. He was our "go to" guy and had outstanding complementary pieces, the difference between first round wins and the loss against Purdue. This is what I am talking about-- in order to have an elite mid major team, you have to have both. Canisius is a POS team without Barron, with Barron they are only as good as the MAAC semifinals. That's not saying much.

I think long and Wright can develop into that role. I really think with some off season work white also has the toughness and attack mentality necessary. Cole like the role...let's see if he can handle it. Paige is probably a more athletic version of Poole
Poole is a complimentary player and a damn good one at that. As other guys step up in the go-to role Poole will flourish without all that defensive focus.
I want to see what progression takes place in the young bigs!

I agree that Siena needed another shooter. I tend to believe that player will be Cole. His presence should open up the offense and take the pressure off the other wings. As for a go to guy.. I still like Poole!
