I graduated from an ACC school, and while it is no apples to apples comparsion, the Tennis teams are flying private,Volleyball team is flying private, not to mention the costs of tournments and recruiting cost. Moving up in terms of league sounds easy, but for a school like UAlbany and Siena there are so many costs the average fan does not take into consideration. I am happy Siena is in the MAAC, it think it fits the profile of the school and keeps us competative and ability to make the NCAA tournment consistently which provides millions of dollars in free advertising. UAlbany I feel will move up and thats why you hear coach Brown saying they need to upgrade facilities sooner than later. The SEFCU is a great atmosphere, when people are there. New Seating, Sound System, Scoreboard and student turnout and we have 2 great Mid Major programs that can compete.

That’s why you are seeing more and more schools drop non-revenue sports. Especially teams at the CAA level where the cost of football at that level is very expensive. Not to mention the travel distance involved – lost class time etc. As for Will Brown complaining about program upgrades. He isn’t the first or last coach to want that, they all do for recruiting advantages. If UA goes to CAA they will be at a disadvantage to many of those schools from a facilities standpoint (for men’s and women’s bb) why do you think Siena is building a 17 million dollar practice facility? If UA makes a jump to the CAA in all sports it will cost millions of dollars, not to mention additional millions more in facility upgrades- so yes I agree its not easy

SBU who is rumored to be moving in concert with UA has just completely gutted and renovated their arena to the tune of $20mil. UA will need something similar or close to it....recruiting to SEFCU and what possibly may be the ugliest campus in the country isn't gonna be easy!
