Anybody have an idea why the Vermont Coach was mad at White? They made a bunch of mistakes tonight. It will get better- I agree with Tony they could have one to two wins before MAAC play. I'm more concerned as to why JP was yelling at Voekel??

Wright not white kind of shoved him out... then all hell broke loose

We all keep talking about how much the freshman need to learn, and I think this was well illustrated tonight.
Until this past Friday, these guys have never had to play against a team full of D1 talent playing at D1 speed. Yes, I realize we have played two AE teams, but the difference between HS ball and D1, at any level, is immense. Poole is our best player right now, but it's primarily because his experience has prepared him to be that guy for us. He's a tough, heady player who can shoot.
The freshman will gradually get up to speed, learn to anticipate a little better, and learn to play at the intensity level required to compete at this level. The rampant fouling will hopefully decline in coming games as a result.

Wow, two games in and it sounds like some of you are jumping ship already. Are you kidding me? You all do realize this team is starting 4 freshmen...right? What did you expect this season, especially the first few games of their young careers? This is a rebuilding year - but the key is the rebuilding has begun. Obviously the prior coach wasn't so hot a recruiter, so this whole thing has to be rebuilt from scratch. That's going to take a little time. The program will be fine. The biggest problem so far is the team going cold from the field a little too often. The shooting will come around. Chill out and enjoy the season as they get better with each experience. The rebuild is under way.

The rebuild is under way. People just don't get it. The PW really screwed us. But I don't want to keep harping on that. We will get better as the year goes on but we're going to take some major lumps. I didn't want to believe it (who does) but it is the reality of the situation. As you said the REAL rebuilding is now underway with a good coach and a talented freshmen class. Freshmen have ups and downs...unless they are the pros at Kentucky they are going to take time to grow. I promise this team will be much better on January 12th than they will be on November 12th. Looking at the upcoming schedule expect a loss to LaSalle...then we have St. Bonnie at home and at Cornell. Hopefully at least one win there. And then at Purdue, 3 in Florida and 2 in Buffalo. The kids just have to keep their heads up and keep grinding. Don't get discouraged at the W/L record - the wins will eventually come.

Amazing stat of the night: Siena's 2 centers both fouled out in a total combined 20 minutes. Wow. And Rob Poole shot 5-16, had 0 assists and 3 turn-overs, he didn't havbe the great game some of you think you saw.

First, we've seen this before... home team has a big injury taking a starter out prior to the game and mysteriously a few quick calls later and all of a sudden the visiting team is down a man at similar position. Zero doubt the officials helped that along... wouldn5 have change any outcome but it does happen. Sometimes the officials will just have a softer whistle for the home team... and other times this will happen (JO).
Second... this whole rule change is magnifying sienas inexperience and depleted talent issue. That is why I said in another post that some may not have taken into account the massive impact this rule change is having on Siena.

There are a few positives from the game:
Siena shot 82% from the line Despite having 11 more fouls called on Siena the team only lost the rebounding battle by 3 boards. You know it is hard to play aggressive and go after it in the paint when saddled with fouls... Saints O/D rebounding was pretty balanced - personally I like to see that balance. Even as a young inexperienced team they won the TO battle on the road no less.
A few observations: It is clear to me that the freshmen need time to adjust and that they will be very good in the not too distant future. The staff would be wise to through in a few set plays for the guys. They may have done so already or are working on it currently with the kids. When the O isn't flowing and shots aren't falling a set play can often get the boys loosened up and feeling more confident. Siena needs more talented depth...

I've said several times I'm a big Poole fan. My point was that some are going way overboard on how great his game was. Nobody on the team played well.

NOT SURE IF THIS FITS
The radio from Vermont by Vermont was very poor However the FREE video that came with it was OUTSTANDING including video of the LASALLE game and also general sports program promotion. Vermont might have a video/news program. Much better then the Siena web caste and Time Warner

The Siena video casts are of poor quality and they are not cheap. Not sure why.
