Getting back to the original premise of this thread- I can see Jimmy starting Oliver and Bisping early in the year – to take some pressure off the freshmen- plus White and JO will more than likely get more time than either Oliver or Bisping- remember Hewitt doing that with Dave Deters.. and Brandon Fields was playing the majority of the minutes at Center. As the freshmen get more time and games under their belt—Jimmy may be forced to start them… and again that’s a good problem to have

I have to agree with Gorvy...we should not be in the bottom 4 of the conference. The lack of experience will hurt especially early but eventually talent and coaching will (should) come into play. Don't be surprised if we start the season around 2-7 but finish with a winning record by March. I've said it a million times the key is to do well at home. If we can win 10 or 11 games at home and steal a few on the road we will have a very successful season in Jimmy's inaugural season at Siena. Other than Iona and Manhattan I don't see anyone with talent clearly better than us on paper. Heck even a team like Canisius picked 3rd lost to us last year.
I have tempered my expectations with our OOC schedule with 10 out of 11 away from home after the UAlbany game (we gotta beat them!) but I expect to do very well in the MAAC. We don't start the bulk of MAAC play until Jan. 2 by then the freshmen will have gained a lot of experience.

It is becoming more and more obvious that our most talented team is JO-Long-White- Wright and Poole—that’s 4 freshmen and a junior. Does Jimmy go that route or does he mix it up and maybe start Bisping at the 5 ( or Oliver at 2) to have more veteran’s out there. My guess is early in the year that’s what he does, by the time the MAAC schedule rolls around I expect we very well might see that line up ( that’s assuming Cole isn’t eligible) thoughts on starting 4 freshmen? Should he do it? At some point this season I would not be surprised if 4 freshman start (4freshman & a Poole), but I highly doubt (or would be very surprised if) it'll occur in the first third of the season (10 games). With this team it really doesn't matter who starts IMO; some may receive starters mins but come off the bench. Like Misspractice says we have numbers this year, which means we have more options & the ability to run & press (& still have bodies in reserve).

It seems to me that drawing any conclusions about Ryan and Rich based for the most part on what fans saw last year is inconsistent with what most fans thought of the coaching that those kids received. Neither got any benefit from MB's game "plan" or his "coaching" - in fact, the efforts MB put into changing their skill set to fit the single option offense did much harm! I've said it before and I have to say it again, give the criticism a rest until you see them play when the season starts. Writing either or both off based on watching a green and gold like practice makes no sense. Neither had a great (or even good for that matter) game yesterday. That happens. I can recall stinkers from many of the "stars" on Fran's teams well into their careers in games that counted. Jimmy and his staff have watched Ryan progress since April and it is very obvious that they like what they see and will give him a chance for some serious minutes. Matchups will dictate minutes, not negativity from the fan base. It serves no good purpose to slam any of them. If you have a strong need to slam athletes go pick on the Giants - more than enough meat there for even the hungriest critical fan..... Well said, and I've heard the coaching staff numerous times talk up Ryan. So unless that is only a motivation speech thing to get the others guys to play harder, I believe Jimmy will start Ryan at SG (initially). If Cole gets his waiver or Evan or White show improvement/hustle in practices then maybe one of them will eventually beat out Ryan, but it sounds like if the season started today - Ryan would start.

"No reason for us to be any worse than 5th place in any season, this one--with all the young guys--no exception."
Are you nuts? This program was decimated by the PW and he left very little for the new staff to build with. This time of year we all fall in love with our teams and players and forget that every other school also has recruits and transfers who they all expect to excel. Listen to any coach (heard Will Brown lately?), they all have great expectations until they actually face other Division 1 athletes. Give me (and Jimmy and the team) a break; the team and program has a lot of work to do and there is a reason they are picked to finish 10th in the MAAC. Let's root for the Saints, but keep in mind that the program reached new lows just last year and we are in for some serious rebuilding which will take time. Let's be patient and enjoy what should be a much more exciting brand of ball than "Mitch-ball", but I think those who expect a winning season this year border on delusional. Sure hope I'm wrong on that, though!

Siena fans are going to have something they are not known for this year—namely patience. THE PW left us in horrible shape. Just the fact we are talking about potentially starting 4 freshmen speaks volumes about our returning talent level. The program is definitely headed in right direction- don’t put any artificial numbers on the team- just enjoy the product, they are going to be fun to watch (for the first time in 4 years) Will we win 10 games or 16-- I dont know. But I do know it is going to be fun

It will not be fun to win 10 games. That would mean 20 losses. It is okay to set the bar higher than that. I am confident in the team. If I end up being disappointed, so be it.

Yes, we can do that despite the youth and what Jimmy was left with. Let's see who's right in early March.

Let's hope the optimists are 'right'...although I am sure that the people whose opinions are squarely based on the past performances and state of the program in March of this year will be VERY HAPPY to be incorrect!!

I'd say 1 win per freshman 12 wins will be a good year, 15 would be great. Go Sox 4 wins away from the parade.

One thing I like about Patsos already compared to his predecessor that no one talks about is that there are currently 16 players on the roster. No saving 'ships.
We're not a team with 11 or 12 scholarship players plus a walk-on...2 of which are sitting out, 4 of which are injured..etc.
Lucious or Greg do not have to suit up so they can actually have a full practice. We have bodies.
At Loyola, Jimmy always seemed to fill up the roster and have a bunch of walk-ons too.
Means added practice intensity and the ability to keep it up. Sounds like the practice situation is night and day from the last few years already. No standing around or wondering if they can even have a full practice.

Go with freshman backcourt. When Hymes comes back he is certainly going to see time, and if White progresses, what do you say to Oliver? Thanks but now youre 3rd string kid? Lets roll with Wright and White for 4 years!!!! Wright - - Hymes White - - Hymes - - Oliver - - Audu Poole - - Oliver Long - - Bisping Silas - - Ogunyemi I know that Silas has been foul prone and off to a slow start. I just think that it will be hard to go up against big schools early on and not start youre best rebounder to see what he can give you, at least initially. After watching the game last night and seeing the team again I'm still sticking to this line-up

Jimmy had to go to zone Hymes, Bisping and Oliver were getting killed in man to man. Bisping played mush better in Zone
