Funny but no. I didn't care for the hire. I understood it in part but thought it was the lazy way out. I didn't renew season tix for the past 2 years ... that is until this year. As far as Mitch goes i recognize his contribution to the program as an assistant under Fran and his failure as head coach. Sorry but the crap posted in this thread is trash and childish. Mitch is gone pull for Patsos and move on. This kind of bs just makes Siena fans look foolish. Sorry just my take. I'm sorry too. Don't call us childish or foolish when your response to a losing team was to desert it. Another fair weather fan, the team doesn't win so you desert the program and the kids. That's your answer to support the Siena program. But you're going to chastise us. That's big of you to recognize what Mitch did that was positive. Now things are starting to look up and you're going to support the team again. Thanks a lot. I supported PW for three years, was always there no matter what.(for the kids and the program) We don't need you individuals that come back when it's convenient or more attractive to lecture to Anyone[. I've learned in the last few years as I've battled people on this site, even defended MB, that their angry and venom was only due to their dedication to the program and their love for our boys. So I'm sorry, but I don't have much respect for your "positive" attitude when you took the easy way out and now you're going to moralize to us. It might be your take but you have earned that right in my eyes. Sorry just my take. Success attracts fans and failure chases them away, that is typical and desired. If fans kept purchasing tickets at the same pace we might still have beyer as our head coach. Liking a bad product and supporting it doesn't make you loyal or a good fan; it makes you a sucker.

Liking a bad product? Yeah, that's why we were there. I'm personally having the time of my love seeing my Giants 0and 6. What a great rush. There are lots of ways to express yourself as a dissatisfied fan other than deserting the team. And without starting another round of throwing stones at our AD and President, I don't think there is anyone in their right mind that would be happy or satisfied with a losing record or the poor situations we were in with Beyer, Lanier or MB. Mistakes were made. The solution has been said over and over. Stop making bad hires and I can't control that. You will never convince me that the right thing to do is desert the college team we love. It's not like boycotting a professional team. It's the 18-22 year old kids we're supporting. See you in two weeks today!

I don't begrudge anyone for supporting the kids and attending games last year. I would never tell anyone how to be a fan. But I will admit during Lanier's final season and last season I did not attend many games. Money concerns aside - statements had to be made. I agree with CellarRat that if it was business as usual changes would likely not be made. I watched/listened to every game last year...I did NOT quit on the program - not at all. But sometimes there has to be some tough love (cutting off financial support) to keep the integrity of administration intact. IMHO this shows the most concern about the program's long-term health and just not showing up for the sake of being there.
That said I'm headed off to the box office to get my tickets for the UA game... thankfully we are embarking on a new beginning ... the Patsos era is upon us!

Thanks for the definition of a fair weather fan. Also, that is fine if that is the way you choose to support the program. I think personally its kind of a pathetic approach as a fan of a team bu if thats how you feel..then count me down as a "sucker." People here call Mitch the program wrecker but are quick to forget he was part of the equation that got the program to where it was in the first place. Yes he was a bad hire and a terrible head coach. Its all done now...lets move forward

Heck, lord knows it only took a sprinkle or two for me to decide that the weather was too bad for me to attend. But he should tone down the sanctimonious bullshit. If we want to blow off some steam that's our right as fans. It doesn't make us better or worse than others who want to pretend that they are above such "foolish" acts. If he is offended with the term "PW", then perhaps he should think of it as "Plan Writer". He was a great plan writer. For me, he was also a Program Wrecker, a Player Wrecker, and a Plane Wreck. I wouldn't even let him in the dog suit, too close to the court for me.

You did quit on the team..and you suggested that everyone should boycott the games to make a statement lol. This should go into the thread about becoming an elite mid major. Eliminate dumbass fans who try to cut off financial support to their program during down times just to make a point they don't like their coach. Fran years made some people here look like spoiled little bitches who think they are somehow entitled to elite mid-major basketball and if a bad hire is made well then lets just boycott.

You need a broad base of fans and that only happens when a good consistent product is produced. These fair weather fans are exactly what you need to support an elite mid major program, that is if you want to be one. Pathetic is subsidizing failure.

The PR..more or less kicked the fan base in the nuts- after what he did to the program. You don't get over that! And who I really felt sorry for were the players..who were trying..but under his system- were fighting a loosing battle! It was NEVER going to work!

You can still attend games and support a program even though you do not like the coach. Some people still root for the players and cheer and show support during hard times. Its like the quote "adversity introduces a man to himself." Why should anyone listen to you here when you bail on the program when you don't like the coach or because they are losing. No shit none of us liked it but we were atleast there when times were tough to watch. You can chose to be a fair weather fan if you like Cellar rat but it has exposed your character here. You are entitled to attend games just when the team is winning or at your level of excitement. It is what it is.

Listen, I kept my season tickets through the bad years, but the program needs its casual fans to get to the next level.
We don't have to listen to them being sanctimonious on this board, but we can still welcome them back to the flock.
