I love the job Jimmy is doing and don't mean to nit pick but I would not call us mid-major "minus"... yes coming off the past three years sure but traditionally we are a VERY good mid-major program. I'm not expecting Jimmy to make us Gonzaga but hope he doesn't run from expectations that he himself stated in his introductory press conference that Siena had the "same things" as Butler, VCU, Wichita State etc no reason Siena should not set very high level goals/expectations...of course being in the A10 instead of the MAAC would help in taking the basketball program to the next level!!

MTS - Jimmy is not going to say we will be the next Butler Gonzaga VCU etc-- way too much pressure. He knows what he can do at Siena

I can't wait until the day when non-Siena fans start calling Siena the next (fill in the blank) after we get to the sweet 16 or possibly elite 8 or better. It will happen, I just hope it happens in my lifetime so I can experience it. We have the ability to be the next Xavier, VCU, George Mason, etc.. Maybe not a Gonzaga (unless we can get a coach to stay 10+ years (and their great). Can't wait. Jimmy may be able to pick up where Fran left off (maybe as early as next year). I'm hoping for the MAAC finals this year (win or loose). That would exceed expectations. Can't wait for the season to start. Haven't been this excited in a while.

MAAC final probably not, I would be happy w/ 500 ball this year and a win vs UA. Next year 18 - 20 wins. Year 3 is when the pressure is going to mount on JP! That's when expectations will be really high and patience around here will start to wane if he doesn't produce.

Explained this several times-- cant happen in the MAAC.. the MAAC is like a communist conference. When you go to NCAA most of the money goes to MAAC-- Gonzaga- Butler VCU-Xavier - played in revenue sharing conferences where the team that goes to NCAA gets to keep approx 70% of NCAA revenue over entire 7 year period.. that's why those teams are able to pay their coaches a million a year or more. And while even they occasionally lose coaches the turnover is much less. One of several reasons why Siena needs to get out of the MAAC

One of several reasons why Siena needs to get out of the MAAC Is this true in the other Conf ranked in the 10-20 range or specific to the MAAC? Just another reason to ditch the MAAC. Edit: Actually let me rephrase that, is it true that most if not all Conf outside of the top 10 are non revenue sharing? That's what makes it so difficult for mid and low mid majors to become an elite team. That's a huge reason for making the A10 happen!

That's just another way of making excuses why it can't happen. Siena doesn't have to stay in the MAAC, that's their choice. There have been plenty of opportunities for them to try making a move. The admin doesn't want to. That's the only reason Siena "can't" be great.

Why dont you tell me the opportunities Siena had to move? And dont say the A10 because the A10 offered Davidson- not Siena.. mainly because of our 3 year run under the PW. If you want to say Siena delayed any potential move with hiring of PW- then I agree with you

Siena has had great facilities and fan base for years, if they tried to move, they could have. But apparently, only you can ever be right. Every D1 team that ever changed conferences must have sat and waited for an invite. It's a good thing you are a "moderator" so you can tell everyone their opinion is wrong and yours is right. I thought we were all entitled to our opinion.

I don't think it is as easy as saying we're moving. Now if you want to say there appeared to be a lack of a long range plan by the AD and the school I would say it was possible or maybe there was a plan and the last few years derailed it......

I thought we were all entitled to our opinion. You are entitled to your opinion no matter how wrong it is. At one time Siena had no intention of moving- That has changed with new president. A bad hire was made once Fran left and that has delayed any potential move by Siena. Not many "up" conferences interested in program coming off 3 straight losing seasons. Or maybe you have some "inside" information on how Siena turned down a move to a better conference in last 5 years? Listen you can be successful without the big money from NCAA units--( See Davidson and Vermont) but the really successful mid majors ( Gonzaga- Butler- VCU- Creighton- Wichita State) all played in conferences where they got the lions share of NCAA units. And I should also add there is no denying the bad hires Siena has made under Darg's watch which has also held program back
