ok Bigfan I get it.....Playing the pg with this team is prob not the best option for this team....I was hoping we would have better options at the 4 so he would not have to be the size like HS.. it is what it is though and Lavon is not complaining ....ok express your opinions but I am glad I was right about Patsos in that he knows Lavon's game....he can play 1-4 in but needs size on his team to be a 1 or 2 and we dont have that

Just that if he's running point, you really lose those elements of his game. I happen to think he is ideal as a 3 OR 4. If he had a truly reliable three point shot, he'd be an unstoppable 2. But then he wouldn't be playing at Siena, either!

LaVon's game reminds me of Derrick Coleman's...versatile lefty who has all the tools to go along with size for their respective leagues. Coleman may have had a more polished outside touch but i'm pretty sure LaVon will have a better work ethic lol

Not a big deal. Will give the other wing players a real chance to show something......or not show something.
Hymes will be back in time for the real games, and he can stay in shape with a hand injury. Maybe a good time to see if the new walk-on PG can play any real minutes for us this year.

But isn't it nice to know we have a 6'6" guy who could do that in a pinch when it could mean the diff between a win and a loss? Kind of like Ubiles did. And even Franklin helped breaking presses etc Exactly spot on. Besides it's a huge difference between JP saying the kid can play 1-4 and playing him as a PG. LL will handle the ball in these spots if he's logging time at the 1 something catastrophic has happened!

best thing that could happen is White gets into the mix and Hymes slides back to backing up Wright. You can play both Hymes and Wright on rare occasions. With Silas and Bisping still coming around we will need to see some team rebounding. Size at the two and three are going to be critical. See Long and White providing the answer there in addition to Poole
i would rather see a primary lineup of
Wright Poole Long Bisping Silas
at this point. From what we are seeing on and off the court it is going to be awfully hard to keep Long off the floor and out of the starting rotation. I know there seems to be some underlying situation with PPC and White but I believe he will be a great complimentary player to Long and Wright.
Eventually, when White gets into the mix I wouldnt be surprised to see something like
Wright White Poole Long Bisping/Silas
as the primary lineup. Long is slotted in the 4 in this situation but I think in a running team he would be able to make great use of his skills with this lineup.

looking back, Long seems to be in that Ringgold/Gadson mold. Both caused a lot of matchup problems and Long seems to have a better handle than either of those guys

White will give the team an identity. He is a tough-minded player with a turbo motor that plays both ends of the floor extremely hard. I have witness him go toe to toe with the Harrison twins, pour in 36 point against St. Frances arch rival Mt. St Joe’s in a standing room only gym, in one of the biggest game of the year. I have seen him defensively give Kam Williams Ohio State bound problem.
I have watched this kid play on the AAU circuit against some of the best players in the country and hold his own. This kid is a warrior!!! He and Wright in the backcourt will give Siena one of the best in the MAAC.
The Siena fans are going to love this kid’s passion for the game and work ethic.

Let me clear that up ...there are no issues with PPC and White...I really only know him from watching him play against Lavon....They have never been teammates nor have they ever hung out together ...which brings me to the most important point that there are no issues between Lavon and White....Lavon loves his teammates that he has now and will play with anyone...so I dont see a problem ....I also agree that they would cause havoc on the defensive end together....

I don't see JP starting an all-freshman backcourt, so I wouldn't hold my breath for White to supplant Hymes as a starter. Hymes is a proven threat to put up 30 any given night. It would be kind of stupid to bench such a player in favor of a complete unknown. If it was my team, I'd start Silas, JO, Long, Poole, and Hymes if the season began right now (ignoring Hymes's injury for the sake of argument). Those are the best 5 on the team right now in my opinion based solely on what little we've seen so far. Yes, Wright has put up some points, but his assist/turnover ratio has been horrendous, he shoots too much for a mediocre shooter, and his lapse on defense cost the team a game. He needs a little more time in the oven before he's ready. I'm also not convinced Bisping is starter material, and I don't see how you keep Long off the floor for any length of time. Wright is the PG of the future for sure, but I'd ease him into it with a few games off the bench first. Even Ron Moore and Doremus Bennerman didn't start the first few games of their careers. Marc Brown did, but he was something special. Wright is no Marc Brown.
I think JP's current starting 5 won't be what he goes with come November. Watch for yet another change as he gets better acquainted with what he has. That being said, the fact that we can debate who should start and who should play how much is a good thing - it means we have more than 5 good interchangeable players. It's a good problem to have.

Sink or swim with Wright from Day1. No easing in, it will disrupt the flow in the future. Might as well acclimate everyone to his style right from the get go. Lets hope Wright is Brown, Bennerman or Moore 2.0.
