I guess I am reading between the lines, but I don't think it is a stretch to say JB didn't make his comments unsolicited or after being in contact with GMac to discuss the Siena job. That leads me to believe that GMac would be open to considering the position. GMac and JB know Siena can't match his SU salary so it is a matter of what type of cut he is willing to take to get that HC experience on his resume. Siena needs a hire that excites the fan base and retains and grows the season ticket base, so Siena has to make the best offer they can afford. We'll see what happens in the negotiation process with either GMac or Murray. Luke is your son can’t you make a deal with Siena? 😂 just a "nephew" But I do get a lot of texts from my cousin Bill but they are about buying some of his golf attire not Siena basketball.

Soup is exactly right. “If he didn’t want to take the pay cut”? That’s hysterical. Who would take a pay cut like that? Every person hired by Siena as a head coach made more not less than their previous position. Would you take a pay cut to prove your worth at a new job, knowing you lost your previous one that paid allegedly double? 25 years ago I left a 100k+ job for a 30% pay cut because I saw the opportunity with the new company. I’ll just say it it worked out pretty good. If you believe in yourself and you’re given the opportunity, you throw your balls on the table and take your shot at being the CEO of the program rather than a highly paid assistant. When you succeed, the $ will follow.

You may make more as an assistant but you're at the mercy of the HC and tied to their success. As a HC you are much more in control of your own destiny.

Donald Copeland is hungry to win. I have been impressed with him. Don't think Siena can afford to make that hire. If Gerry McNamara leaves his $800k per year job for a $400k per year job, I'd would seriously question his judgment - especially with a family of six. I don't expect any of you state employee hacks that made $40k per year for 30 years or make $70k per year today to understand the difference between $400k and $800k when you have a family of 6. G-Mac doesn’t make 800k!? Where did you get this my number from. I’ve heard 375-400k from a very reputable source.

The question right now seems to be is GMac our coach? Maybe MTS can tell us when the press conference is so we can clear our calendars. ;-)

The list is probably longer than we think and there will be a surprise in the final group. I do t know that for a fact but that usually is. Let’s hope its gets narrowed down soon

You play, and coach what you know and you recruit to play what you coach. That said, I always thought having man and multiple zone options was a good thing. Bottom line, if you are winning it doesn't really matter but having somethings options are beneficial even if for short periods.
