Wow - no wonder the league is down. None of those records are that good. Mason an Baggett are the only ones with an overall winning record. I won't count Anderson - sample size too small. None of these coaches would last at Siena. This should be a selling point for recruiting...if you're even remotely capable you should be able to clean up in this league and cash out to a P5 school.

The MAAC is on a downhill slide and it’s not going to get better, it may not even exist in 5 years.

Maybe sooner than that… If you guys think midmajors aren’t going to exist —why are you even wasting your time here? It’s like the people that say the earth has 10 years left every 10 years but it’s still here. Siena just sucks. We need to fix our program NOW. Period. It is that simple.

The MAAC may surcome to conference realignment, the MAAC also has programs likely slated to leave and will be adding more NEC (low major) programs. The MAAC has more than a couple of institutions on less than sound financial footing. There’s a very good chance in the not too distant future that the MAAC won’t exist in its current state. Like I said in a earlier post, legit midmajor programs (A10 MVC American WCC MWC Ivy etc…) have nothing to worry about. Small regional low major programs on shaky financial ground won’t be so lucky. The NCAA has grown D1 to an unreasonable level and a culling is probably in order. Talent has been watered down and the current numbers aren’t sustainable.

I wouldn’t care if our league was a low major, a mid major, or Johnny Majors. I just want to win and have something to cheer about and look forward to. To be the worst team in a shitty league just makes it doubly frustrating.

Competitive intra-league play w Siena in the mix every year for a league championship … combined with a ticket to the big dance 2 out of every 5 years … I can dream can’t I

It’s not about a question of labels , we’re a low major program in a faultering conference. The NCAA currently has too many D1 programs. There’s not enough legitimate D1 talent to field 360+ programs. Something has to give. Secondly I care about overall league quality. The way the MAAC is slipping I don’t want to be competitive because just about ever roster is sinking to our current level. Bad basketball is bad basketball. Whether it’s one team or an entire conference. Scheduling a weak OOC to mask competitiveness is also a no go for me as is getting punked and being unable to compete outside the MAAC . QU & Fairfield (2 financially stable programs) leaving isn’t good for the MAAC.

Dream on if you think OOC schedule will be getting better … no up conference team wants to eat a loss against a lesser league team these days … the big boys seem to be having inter-league competitions…brings in more dollars … Siena’s big OOC game will be A-10 level opponent if we’re lucky

You can get decent out of conference games...you just need to earn it.

To be the worst team in a shitty league just makes it doubly frustrating. I care. I want the school to move up to quality conference, play better schools, and be a legit mid-major.That said, the Siena administration loves fans like you.

At this point, Siena is among the lowest of low "major" teams. The NET rating confirms it. DI has been diluted with many DII level programs and Siena leads the pack in the race to the bottom in that category. It is hard to justify keeping my tickets, and unless there is a drastic change in talent level at Siena (I'm not optimistic for a coaching change), if I do keep them it will not be as a Siena fan, but as a generic college basketball fan. If UA were to move to the CAA for basketball I would switch to UA season tickets. Right now the AE is better than the MAAC and the only thing that would keep me a MAAC fan is Niagara. Carm has to hit it out of the ballpark with quality JUCO and portal kids to have a chance to keep me engaged.
