Siena should have a “summer time” celebration at the Times Union! For everyone .. players, coaches and fans! And yes.. to celebrate the championship! Hopefully, this spring (April) celebration at the EOS Banquet is still “on”. I think I heard it was being planned towards end of April.

Wonder if mid-April Basketball Banquet will be cancelled ... Spring semester ends mid-May so not a lot of wiggle room to reschedule Fingers crossed it isnt Cancelled. Of course this is just me being optimistic that the virus thing blows over by then (maybe after the CDC determines this isn’t much worse than the flu in terms of seriousness and just allow it to run its course). Otherwise, if they determine this is more serious than flu; it’s likely to be cancelled.

How about they create a bracket and have eight mini tournaments with eight teams each in the 2021 preseason in a special one time exemption. Three games in three days in each of the eight sites. A way to kick off the new season in a fun and unusual way.

After that event you are limited to your normal rosters.

This is so "it makes perfect sense" to completely rule it out, as the only "sense" the NCAA considers is the dollars and "cents" - what a way this mini tourney would be to pull fans into the 2020-2021 season (assuming of course there is one, I assumed toilet paper would always be available, LOL)...

Alternate universe: Siena 75 Rider 71 final from Atlantic city.... Siena has won the MAAC tournament.... Pickett with 15 and 8 , Burns 10 and 7, Camper 14 and 12.

I changed my profile to include Siena 2020 NCAA tournament....whether or not the NCAA tournament is played (highly doubtful now) Siena is the rep via the regular season outright championship. Therefore Siena should be recognized as a 2020 NCAA tournament team in their notes, history and banner raising next year. It's big for recruiting/history/tradition and happened through no fault of our own obviously. Does anyone have a problem with this or think it won't happen? In a way, it is inappropriate. We won the regular season, as alot if teams did. There is no way to predict if we would have won the maac tourney. Unfortunately, that's the reality when playing in a league and the NCAA landscape and sport that requires you to play 4 months of hoops, yet the winner of a 5 day tourney is your "champ". The end if year tourneys are just about $$$.Its been a flawed system for years. There is a strong push to give these sienors an added year of eligibility. That would be awesome.

Isn't there a pre-season NIT? Wouldn't Siena be in it since they finished with the auto-bid?

No, Siena was declared maac champions and thus was the maac's representative. Somebody said it best, Siena was an NCAA tournament qualifier in 2020.

This isn't a qualifier for the NCAA tourney. Siena was guaranteed the nit with the regular season title. If we want to now conveniently say that as favorites in AC, they might have won the maac tourney, then that doesn't hold much water. As devastated I am about the cancellation of the world we all love; the extension of the season to crown a "champ " via a 5 day tourney instead of the 4 month resume, is just NOW showing how ridiculous these end of year conference tourneys are.

Regular season champion and No. 1 overall seed Siena College would receive the conference's automatic NCAA tournament bid.

I've been wondering since the weird end of the season:
Will next year's logo contain a sixth trophy?

I've been wondering since the weird end of the season: Will next year's logo contain a sixth trophy? We didn’t win the MAAC tournament so we can’t claim the MAAC tournament championship obviously. But we were declared the MAAC NCAA rep (like the Ivy League did with Yale). Thus Siena should claim an NCAA tournament appearance. If you want to put an asterisk fine but as regular season outright champs and still alive when the tournament was canceled it is absolutely warranted. Too bad the NCAA won’t put a bracket out. I’m going to say had we won the tournament we would’ve been a 15 seed. Let’s come back stronger next year and win the MAAC regular/tournament championship and get a 12 or 13 seed in the big dance capable of doing major damage! Go Saints!!!!!!!!!

I just read where IONA signed Rick Pitino! I love the job Carm did this year, but I'm kind of awed by how much IONA wants to win.
