How many teams can Siena schedule to get 10k for a game? UA is an easy 10k draw because of the local interest. It’s much harder to bring in another team to play in the TUC to get that kind of a draw. Larger schools just won’t want to schedule an OOC road game like that. I agree the “buzz” surrounding the UA program since the game has been discontinued is gone. The game benefits UA much more than Siena. It’s not about which team is “better” or the talent level of each team. Maybe UA would rather schedule another MAAC at home (Canisius, Monmouth, Manhattan) rather than having to play Siena as a road game that is their prerogative. The media attention is worth playing it as a road game for UA. Even with Siena having poor coaching, questionable administrative decisions, a complete drain of talent there weren’t many benefits of the game other than knowing they can get 10k in the seats. I suspect that UA got a much better deal playing this game at the TUC than any other road game they have scheduled as a replacement since. They probably made out better than scheduling an extra home game. As a Siena fan, I’d rather see a home like Rhode Island, Harvard, or Buffalo than Albany. None of the other 3 draw 10k, but those programs are more relevant in D1. This game not happening anymore hasn’t been a big deal to me.

Getting decent MM into the TUC went out with bracket busters and will probably stay that way. If Siena and UA were both better it would be worth having.

Loved the bracket buster concept, really too bad that didn’t stick. I liked it too-- but only liked it when we were good. Don't forget being a weak program has hurt our scheduling also. Many of the better mid major conferences have limitations on scheduling teams with a plus 200 or 250 RPI-- as the program hopefully improves under Carm we should be able to schedule better

I guess I can see how a game between the two schools would be "great" for UAlbany, but how is the game "good for Siena....and good for the area"? I don't get it. What I would like to see is a double-header at the TUC with Siena and Albany each playing a mid-to-upper-level opponent. Those things aren't that easy to arrange, and can be a bit expensive, but seems much more like a win-win for both schools than having them play each other. I like that idea too. Might be nice if we could ever host a 2 day tournament. And been discussed before, altho they probably wouldn't go for it but a MAAC-MAC challenge would be good. been pimping the MAAC-MAC challenge for years now................play 2 games between leagues in Albany with Siena & another top 4 MAAC team, then 2 games at a high end MAC school............win-win, and sponsored by McDonalds of course, home of the Big Mac..............cha ching........................

You don’t understand how a game that draws 10 thousand people is good for Siena? Good for the area? No, I don’t. Not trying to be sarcastic, obnoxious or anything else. Just don’t see how playing Albany is a good thing for Siena or the “area”.

Enough alums in area to satisfy need for TUC ... make it Albany Cup day ... do a kid centric or March madness like activity event from 2 - 3:30 ... open a 21+ beer garden ... play game at 4 ... ... game over at 6 ... fans then go to downtown restaurants, bars or head home. Separate out game from season ticket package - assign sections & premium seats to both schools ... open seating in remaining sections

I've said this before, I'll say it again...Siena being bad for 8 years doesn't make UA good. In general, they've done nothing as far as hoop goes. I don't even recall the last marquis game they won (vs Washington maybe). Sure they've gotten to the dance and that's great but they haven't won sh!t. Their attendance is crap as is their schedule. I understand why they want a true home game...I get it. That said, jacking the price up for tickets and parking given the limited capacity is a little over the top. Was Siena charging a premium for the UA game? I'm a season ticket holder so I really didn't pay attention to game-to-game pricing.

I assume they still sold out. Siena doesn’t because the supply is there. It’s always a better look to keep prices lower and get as many there as possible.

If we hadn't left the UA and UVM series having lost 5 or more in a row I might be able to convinced its not good for Siena, It was always Great for the area. Great crowd, lots of pre-game coverage etc.

This game only benefited Albany from the start. When it started back up again, if we didn't win big it was a loss for Siena. Then we started losing the game more regularly than winning it which was a loss for Siena. Then there is the whining about fairness. Albany can't draw flies to their games, never sold any tickets, gouged Siena fans when they played at Albany, but Siena should bend over? How many years has Albany averaged 5K fans? Hmmm NEVER! I am so glad this series ended. Albany whined too much and lost the opportunity to play a game without travel that had 10K in attendance. Good riddance.

Bottom line is that this game is fun and good for the local area. Albany deserves to play this as a home and home series, alternating between sites each year. What's the big deal? What's fair is fair. Give the fans what they want. Just sign the contract and get the Albany Cup series going again. The two schools play each other in just about every other sport. They should be playing each other in Siena's signature sport.

Why does Albany deserve a home and home? Siena is under NO obligations to give UA anything. If UA wants to play the game at the TUC by all means we should talk. Siena fans should not be shut out from the game every other year.

Why does Albany not deserve a home game? How are Siena fans shut out? We can buy tickets for UA games just like everyone else and just like every other road game. That agruement is BS. If the game sells out, which it will, then hold a Siena watch party at ARC or TU for those Saints fans who don't get tickets. True, objective college basketball fans (and Siena fans like me) understand and appreciate the rivalry and fun having the Albany Cup series.
