Why does Albany not deserve a home game? How are Siena fans shut out? We can buy tickets for UA games just like everyone else and just like every other road game. That agruement is BS. If the game sells out, which it will, then hold a Siena watch party at ARC or TU for those Saints fans who don't get tickets. True, objective college basketball fans (and Siena fans like me) understand and appreciate the rivalry and fun having the Albany Cup series. There is an arena capable of holding all the Siena, Albany, and just plain local basketball fans that could possibly want to attend. There are two other arenas that would shut out the majority of them (the ARC and SEFCU). If the game is to the benefit of the community then it should always be held at the arena that shuts out nobody as well as at the arena where people are already downtown and would go out to local businesses before and after the game. I am perfectly fine if it is left off the season ticket package and the Albany season ticket holders are allowed to get the best seats. As I've been saying for years, the ideal situation would be to get 2 other schools (say St Bonaventure and Buffalo) to come in and play a 3 day round robin tournament.

And that area is Siena's home arena. As a Siena fan would you feel the same if that arena was UA's home arena? Show me another cross town rival in college basketball where the game is played every year at one of the teams home arena and never played at the others?
Having a multi-team tourney would dilute and no longer make the Albany Cup what is was and what it should be.
Plus how many times per year does the Saints team and players have the opportunity to play in front of a sell-out crowd in another mid-major's home arena? From a players persepective I want to play in that type of game as often as I can.

How many on this board would be in favor of playing Syracuse at their building every year with no games at the TUC ever?
Sent from my LM-V405 using proboards

Sent from my LM-V405 using proboards A lot more travel involved in that case and certainly not helping the local businesses in Albany by having a game in Syracuse every year. Still a game at Syracuse every year where we split the gate and the best seats were split among Siena and Syracuse fans would be a much better option than a guarantee game.

They don't draw flies to their home games, on campus with an undergraduate student body more than FOUR TIMES that of Siena. They average less than half the attendance that Siena does even though they have been more competitive in their conference for the last decade. Siena is not here to help Albany do anything. They also gouged everyone the one game that they did host. If this game ever comes back, give them the seats in the upper level at the TUC. They don't deserve anything more.

I'll go one step further and say we put it in the contract that Siena gets the video feed and hold an official watch party on campus.(If a contract clause is even necessary.) Let Albany fill the arena with THEIR fans. Think they would?? It would be a hostile environment, but good experience for the players.

Ualb AD screwed the pooch on Siena/UA game at sefcu- he purposely tried to withhold( or gouge ) tickets from Siena fans -- they didnt release single game tickets to Siena game after UA season ticket holders-- Benson/Brown knew full well Siena fans would buy the single game seats, instead he put the Siena game into his empire package-- games against several other NY teams ( including some D3 teams) for like 90 bucks plus a buck for Siena game. The extent UA AD went to exclude Siena fans from the game, or make them pay an exorbitant price really turned a lot of Siena folks off... and truth be told the Siena AD 'heard" it. Unless the game is held at TUC the series is dead-- and about 90% of Siena fans support that decision. to the other 10 % of Siena fans that want to play in sefcu--I say go attend a game or two there because I highly doubt you 'll see Siena playing there
Personally I bought a UA season ticket that year - besides Siena game went to 3 or 4 other games and was turned off by whole experience-- 10 bucks to park 2 miles away. Condition of gym... just not my cup of tea
I'll go once or twice a year now ( only when I get free ticket) and place is usually fairly empty
I'm fine if UA doesnt want to play at the TUC-- its their decision - they can continue to play D3 schools to fill out their schedule. BTW the Siena game even at TUC was one of UA's bigger money makers of the year

game should be played, and ONLY at TUC.....................however, been saying this as well, it is NOT part of EITHER season ticket package, you want to go, get tickets, no preferential seating for anyone, first come first served...........and take off any Siena logo's for that game.....................done deal........................although I want to add, set aside (start with) 500+ tickets for each student body and give them "primo" section seats as well as behind respective baskets, that gives you the "on-campus arena type feel), imho..................

I'm certainly open, and I know darg was on ways to keep the game at TUC and make it fair to UA-- but its a non starter if game isnt at TUC.. and to tell you the truth --I think its a non starter for Benson/Brown-- so fine until Benson/Brown is gone game is on hold

Maybe we should play all of our MAAC games at the TUC too? Why go play in empty arenas around the league or let the other teams benefit from our fans who follow the team on the road and who have higher attendance when the Saints are in town?
