I hope this group gets to a postseason tourney. I just hope its not ridiculed by our own fans like the one 5 years ago. Why are you even bringing this up? Most of this board supported the team in CBI (we are after all mainly diehard fans) But why would Siena fans be any different than other college basketball fans? CBI/CIT is not heavily supported across college basketball. Fact of the matter is Siena fans supported the CBI better than other MAAC programs supported CBI/CIT games. Do we want to talk about attendance for FF or Iona at CIT games- I don’t think so You dont remember, "JP was just buying wins" after the tourney? I do. Maybe the diehards that said it will step forward today

I think HJ is doing some revisionist history. The CBI championship was the pinnacle of JP’s time here at Siena. We were rebuilding and nothing was expected. I was at every home CBI game and thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately Jimmy took that as a blank check of goodwill and pissed all over it. IMHO he coasted the next 4 years. He followed up the CBI championship by recruiting the cancer Patrick Cole and two D2 players ( Paige and Brandiwicjk) you just can’t swing and miss an entire year like that- and of course Jimbo followed that up by recruiting several other low D1 or D2 players. His penchant for twice monthly vacations in off season wore on Siena fans. Let’s put this to bed, while end of Jimbo’s tenure at Siena was ugly. His coaching demeanor, twice a month vacations in off seasons, hiring drinking buddies for his assistants coaches were his eventual downfall. Jimmy put next to no effort into recruiting (besides his last 2 months) And his results showed it. He has nobody but himself to blame- certainly not Siena fans- he knew what was expected when he was hired and he thought he could bullshit his way thru it. Enough of looking in rearview mirror at Jimmy Patsos time here. Instead of looking backward complaining about some dreamt up slight 5 years ago… I’ll look forward and the future looks bright!!! Sorry if that offends a few of you!!! Not sure why you even bought JP up? You guys are obsessed. I only bought up the CBI title because a poster on this thread said something about us possibly qualifying for one of the lower ones. JP's name was never mentioned.

You complained about fans looking forward and went on to lodge a complaint looking in rearview mirror 5 years ago

I think the CBI title and Patsos will always go hand in hand. It was an incredibly fun run, anyone that didn't enjoy it at the time had to be a total Patsos hater from the start. After that tournament we were actually worried we could lose Patsos to Maryland! However, that was the high water mark of his career at Siena and with how good that year was it made the next 4 years of disappointment that much worse. So yeah, it will always be impossible to look back at the CBI title and not think about what happened after. Will be the same case with JC if he overachieves this year and then doesn't live up to expectations the next four. This season would never be looked at with the same fondness as Fran's first year just because of what happens later.

Why cant we just take it a year at a time? When you guys constantly talk about "next year," you are basically blowing off this year. There's no guarantees everything will be the way you think next year. Defections, injuries etc.....all can occur. Nobody wants that, but things happen. Just focus on this years group and how well they're doing for being short on talent and bodies. THIS group is reality, and lets support them and their efforts. We can drool over next year in early March. Kind of rich a dude who seldom goes to the games this year telling me to support the team THIS year. Who does this to you? I know you're not talking about me? I go to every home game. IF I'm out of town at football game this time of year, I do miss a game here and there. Flying back tonight and I'll be missing tonights game unfortunately, but my presence on the board during Fridays game can vouch for where my head was while I was over the Grand Canyon ps--I was the ONLY Siena fan at the CBI opener @ Fresno St, and no, JP and I werent friends then. Made the San Diego trip with Mitch, and the Disney with Fran.

After Jimmy pissed on Siena over next 4 years I'm sure some fans showed some resentment- but no question that time was JP's high water mark at Siena- even some of the "doubters" were coming around.

Like I said, if the poster(s) that said all the CBI wins were BOUGHT, want to step forward, thats up to them to own it. It doesnt matter if that opinion was said in 2014 or 2019. And no one is disagreeing that was his best accomplishment. Nico hits that jumper in regulation in the MAAC final, it moves back to #2.

Let Tony get his answers from the posters that will step up. He researched all the way to page 113, he deserves some closure.

They were... it took 19 home games, 38 total to win 20 games and barely slip above .500. Follow that up with the steamy pile thereafter... and his name gets brought up with Beyer and Bunoaguro. and lets not even talk about the dip in SoS dude was a used car salesman... or better yet... he would be better served going door to door selling vacuums

Regarding JP here, RIP. His record, good, the CBI and the ugly stand for themselves. Let’s all move on. None of us had anything hint to do with his hire or firing. The school looks at this board and candidly probably smiles, loves the fandom.
As far as we know JP has never said anything negative about Siena since his dismissal. Says a lot if true of his ethics and professionalism. Not of an of the man or hi is coaching style, ,but he is history.
Unfortunately history often repeats itself, let’s hope it doesn’t in the near future for the school. Seems right now, they have hit a triple, let’s see,if,it,turns into,a,home run. JC everything this group has asked for, seems to be coming through even with the obstacles he has faced.
Support the team, they are over achievers and fun to watch.
