You're telling the wrong person to move on. I didnt bring him up. You're not needed in this conversation. Let Tony get his answers from the posters that will step up. He researched all the way to page 113, he deserves some closure. step up? I said they were bought and paid for. They were... it took 19 home games, 38 total to win 20 games and barely slip above .500. Follow that up with the steamy pile thereafter... and his name gets brought up with Beyer and Bunoaguro. and lets not even talk about the dip in SoS dude was a used car salesman... or better yet... he would be better served going door to door selling vacuums C tournament’s are 3rd and 4th tier tournaments. You need to pay entry fees to host, anywhere from what I believe is $40k to $75k depending on round. The CBI probably cost Siena somewhere in the neighborhood of $300k. To say hosting home games isn’t advantageous isn’t being totally honest. Yeah you still have to win games but seriously any tournament where you can purchase an advantage can’t really be taken all that seriously. Sorry if this rubs some the wrong way but it’s 100% factual. As i stated earlier C tournaments serve a purpose and I get why you would participate but let’s not get carried away. Sure it’s Patsos’s only feather but I’d much rather have a NCAA win.

Pickett named Rookie of the Week for a 5th time this season I don't think this bodes well for the MAAC in the coming years. Pickett is a great freshman worthy of all the platitudes he is receiving but he only played one game last week and it wasn't his best game stat wise (still think he had more than 10 assists). You know the MAAC wants to spread these kind of weekly awards around ... if there were no other freshman with good stats, seems like the recruiting class that came in isn't all that good. (Especially when you consider just how much talent has graduated/left the maac over the last couple of years and how down the maac is this year.) Looking at the maac stats, the only 3 freshman in the top 30 are Pickett, Alavarez (FF) and Sloan Seymour. There is 1 freshman in the top 19 rebounders (Ndefo, SPU) 3 freshman in the top 11 on assists but beyond Pickett, that is Alvarez at 3.4 a game and Dallas Watson (SPU) at 2.9. Think of it this way,if the season ended right now, the much questioned Sloan Seymour is likely an all-rookie selection.

At some point, we have to start talking about Jalen not only as ROY, but also first team and possibly POY.
He leads the MAAC in Win Shares, Box plus-minus, points produced per game, Player Efficiency Rating, and Assists per game (also top 5 nationally in APG). He's top 10 in the MAAC in scoring, steals, blocks, and offensive rating.
As of now, he's one of two freshman in the last 25 years who has averaged at least 14.5 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds per game. The other? Lonzo Ball.
There have been 4 seasons in MAAC history where a player has averaged at least 14.5 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds per game. Jared Jordan's JR and SR year at Marist, Sean Kennedy's SR year at Marist, and Jalen's freshman season at Siena.
I personally think he should be POY. They'll likely wind up giving it to a senior like Cam Young at Quinny. But Jalen absolutely should be a first teamer and if Siena gets a bye, I don't think there's any way you can justify giving it to anyone other than Jalen unless you treat the award as nothing more than a lifetime achievement honor.
As of now he is ranked 2nd in KenPom's POY rankings for the MAAC behind Young.

The MAAC will never...and I mean never give a freshmen the POY no matter how much he deserves it (Lionel Simmons didn't even win it as a frosh). And we won't finish high enough (minimum top 3) likely to even give him a chance. Could he make the 1st team? Maybe. But again if Fisher gets first team likely they'll go with the senior and Pickett will be on the second. Good chance Jalen is preseason POY next year though.

one of the worst coaches ever at Siena. That is what he will be remembered as. Move on. You're telling the wrong person to move on. I didnt bring him up. You're not needed in this conversation. Let Tony get his answers from the posters that will step up. He researched all the way to page 113, he deserves some closure. You brought him up with your "I hope fans dont treat a CBI bid like they did 5 years ago." That's how you normally back door your JP statements. Time to move on Congrats to Jalen for yet another RoW and I agree Sloan probably makes an ALL rookie team also. As to where Jalen ends up in PoY and ALL MAAC- a lot of basketball to be played, we are 3 games into MAAC season

Rename the award after him! Only 3 more to tie Hasbrouck's all-time Siena record of 8 ROW awards. Way to go, Jalen!!! . And he did get a sniff at the nba!

C’mon HJ- you're better than that- you talked about fans ridiculing the CBI 5 years ago- so who was coach? You complained about fans looking forward and went on to lodge a complaint looking in rearview mirror 5 years ago No, you're better than that. Read the thread in sequence. IndianSaint bought up the postseason tourneys, not me. Look, I appreciate the credit but all I did was make a post regarding a comment about let’s not look too far ahead to next season and worry about this one. Someone then posted we ca worry about next season in mid March (implying after the MAAC Tournament). Since I dream bigger, I replied how about we wait till after April (I really meat after March beginning of April). Then you replied after we win the ncaa Tournament and I clarified not necessarily ncaa but there’s many more tournaments use your imagination (since I dream big I’m thinking NIT ;after we win MAAC but lose in MAAC Tournament but I would settle for any post season Tournament including CBI, this year. I just don’t want this season to end as I’m having way too much fun (even with the close losses). I lived the CBI Championship we won and I’m “proud” of it almost as much as our other post season victories. Of course I’d prefer NIT & ncaa victories but I’m still proud of the CBI accomplishment.

Regarding JP here, RIP. His record, good, the CBI and the ugly stand for themselves. Let’s all move on. None of us had anything hint to do with his hire or firing. The school looks at this board and candidly probably smiles, loves the fandom. As far as we know JP has never said anything negative about Siena since his dismissal. Says a lot if true of his ethics and professionalism. Not of an of the man or hi is coaching style, ,but he is history. Unfortunately history often repeats itself, let’s hope it doesn’t in the near future for the school. Seems right now, they have hit a triple, let’s see,if,it,turns into,a,home run. JC everything this group has asked for, seems to be coming through even with the obstacles he has faced. Support the team, they are over achievers and fun to watch. Triples are harder to come by than HRs or any other on base stat. That comment speaks louder than someone hitting a HR.

The rest of the year..... 13 conference games to go. Relative to the first part of the schedule the upcoming competition appears to be less challenging. With the return of Camper, and Smithen's last game, and the improvement in Darwiche the dynamic, (and options) have changed. It may be optimistic, some may say delusional, but if the team continues it's progress I could envision finishing out the regular season at 10-3 or 9-4 (I know it is tough to win road games with so many first year players) but I am betting the marbles on Fisher's leadership, and this team's heart. Jalen and Evan should see less pressure (which should further burnish Jalen's numbers) with Manny and Kadeem in the picture. Degnan has really stepped up and Seymour is a viable threat. The defense was very well designed and executed tonight, the team showed what they could do. So, not being a basketball guru just an early morning musing.

Once again - the talk of the town is...... Jalen Pickett. Today I was watching the Iona and Monmouth game and again the announcers were talking about Jalen Pickett. The conversation went this way-
" I really like Jalen Pickett."
"Yeah, he is an old school point guard."
"He will get you the ball."

This makes the second MAAC game I've seen not involving Siena that the announcers ended up discussing and being impressed with Jalen!!!

At this point, as long as he stays healthy, Jalen is a lock for RoY. In my mind he is clearly one of the top 5 players in conference. But considering Siena is a likely mid pack ( at best finisher) I can’t see MAAC coaches putting a freshmen 1st team ALL MAAC – if you put a gun to my head right now I’d say 2nd team ALL MAAC for Jalen and Evan fisher will have a shot ( not a good one) for 3rd team. But it's going to be tough for Evan to make any ALL MAAC team, he may get caught up in numbers game. He will need to finish season very strong to have any shot
