Really bummed to hear this news...but I wish him the best.
Guess Christian really wants a 3 pointer offense huh?

I'm shocked given the timing of this. Don't often see a guy transferring out AFTER practice has started. Wish for the sake of both sides they had realized it wasn't going to work sooner. The change in style of play from previous years is going to be massive. Wish Shivers well wherever he lands. we heard this back when Kevin H. signed with Atlanta...I do believe it's been in the works for quite a while. If you check the team pics and even social media posts, some had him, some didn't. If that's the case (and I don't doubt that it is), have to think that the addition of Jimmy Ratliff in late August as a "walk-on" wasn't a coincidence. Either way, Coach is definitely amassing players that fit his system, all of which bodes well for the immediate and long-term future of the program.

I hope Ahsante finds a landing spot that is good for him. Tough player - he's made some big shots in his time here, but I had been wondering how he would fit in the mayhem style. It seems "they" decided it wasn't such a good fit, after all. Timing is a bit odd.

Can Jimmy Ratliff play this year? As of about four weeks ago, staff was waiting on an answer from the NCAA.

Some JC quotes on Shivers' departure: If I was a Siena fan, that quote from Christian is odd. A player who is dynamic with the ball doesn't fit his system?

If a coach is turning down "dynamic ballhandlers who can do alot of things", because that doesn't fit his system, that is just goofy.

Shivers has had two months to assess JC’s style of play and new team members ... he did the math and it didn’t add up to the minutes he was expecting this season ... no shame in leaving w a coaching change & he didn’t bail on day one

That’s nothing more than a case of a coach trying to say all the “right” things. Shivers saw playing time was going to be significantly limited and decided to move on...

What did you expect him to say, that he sucks and can't run the new system? Of course he's going to note the positive. Note what he didn't say - that he's quick and can shoot. That's what he needs more to run Mayhem. A dynamic ball-handler that shoots 30% from three on a good day and isn't particularly quick isn't going to cut it. If I had to take a guess, it probably wasn't Shivers' skill set that was the biggest incompatibility. I'm betting the issue was he didn't buy into the conditioning regimen and was sucking wind in practice. That's the surefire way to be run off a JC team. It likely wasn't evident until practice started, hence the late withdrawal.

This coach wants all of his perimeter players to be really good 3pt shooters, that move the ball. This isn't Shivers.
