Predictably, we are picked for last place by both Lindy's and Athlon, not that you can put much stock into those way premature prognostications. Nothing wrong with being over achievers anyway. March on Saints!!

That's reasonable, given the turnover in staff and team personnel. We're optimistic but there is little at this point to warrant a higher rating - everything is on paper, nothing in practice (pardon the pun).

Back in the Hewiitt and especially Fran days I couldn't wait till the Street and Smith College Yearbook to come out in early October. And then there was the year SI had picked us at 26 in their preseason poll.

SI had us 26 in 1999 and had us 20 in 2009. www.si.com/college-basketball/2013/12/13/sienaHere's hoping we get back there real soon with Jamion!

Every 10 years. We are due. Changing coaches might prolong it a few years.

Although we all should have expected it, I still had a hard time seeing our name last on the page. Hopefully a few teams will take us lightly and we can steal a few. It's going to be fun,(or at least interesting), to see how JC and his staff put this new team together. I'm most interested in how long it takes for them to establish a steady or semi-regular rotation. Although we have many new and/or young players being integrated into a new system, something tells me that JC and his staff are going to establish a rotation much quicker than we have been subjected to in recent history.

I agree with musicman. I believe he will definitely have one by the first of the year barring injuries. For his system to work he has to have plan which will be followed pending the situation. I don't think you will find a player penalized for a mistake. If he keeps making the same mistake then you have to correct it promptly, but not 2 min. into his substitution. This particularly is true of underclassmen. If you do, it causes hesitation on their part and a lack of confidence. We have seen far too much of that in recent years.

When our local media picks us to not win a game I’ll really know we are in for a good season.

Every 10 years. We are due. Changing coaches might prolong it a few years. But keeping the same bad one definitely prolongs it. There's no 'might' involved. Secondly, there's nothing that we are due every 10 years. That is a privileged attitude. You have to work for it.
