Nationally we have one of the largest venues for basketball. There are larger ones, like Syracuse, but in the Maac we are the largest. I would think that the TU center would be a huge attraction to players and I don't think our practice facilities are too shabby either. It would seem to me that we ought to have an advantage over schools that draw under 3000 and have facilities not as good as Siena's. What is our downside?

Arena so big with 6k people in it can seem empty. Practice facilities are getting up to acceptable levels. Next needs to come dedicated houses and a remodel to coaches offices and video rooms.

I think we know what our downside USED to be. Maybe now we have the head coach and staff that understand and will take advantage of the facilities, arena, fan base, etc.

Why would lovely coaches offices have any influence. All these players watch better Home and Gardens?

Great to hear we're still top 100, but it will take a hit especially without the UA game. Win, win and win some more to get fans back in the seats.

The attendance was top 100 before ualbany. With a little work that game can be replaced with more interesting games down the road. But you said it, the biggest factor affecting attendance will be winning.

Unfortunately I think it will take a hit this year. Bandwagon fans aren't going to show unless they are winning, this year will be a tough year as far as wins piling up which draws the bandwagon fans out. Plus the home schedule stinks. $5 tickets may help get fannies in the seats this year.Smallbany loves a bargain.

Announced attendance is mostly a sham. Read this article in WSJ a few days ago and presumably same goes for CBB: www.wsj.com/articles/college-footballs-growing-problem-empty-seats-1535634001Some schools announce ushers, concession workers, etc as part of attendance. Attendance in college athletics is dropping as a whole, especially given TV product has never been better. Fans will come out to see a winner and an exciting team, and I believe Jamion will do that. He consistently sold out and got good crowds at MSM playing in a smaller gym. This year, Siena should do a ton of deals and giveaways similar to what the Empire AFL team did this summer. Get people (especially kids) out to games, get big crowds for some marquee games, and get people excited about Siena basketball again. Don’t know that DArg and others in admin have the vision to do this stuff, but just my two cents.

One action to get more fans into the stands is to have the parking garages lower their parking price to no more that $5 max. A second action is have the Time Union Center lower their prices on food and drinks. Try to bring kids to games and pay for a couple meals. I know that these things should be negotiated with the Times Union Center, but it is better than empty seats. They are charging New York City prices in little old Albany.

That's the cost of playing in a big time arena. Pay to park and $9 for a beer. It's tough but the only other option is going back to the ARC.

I think it's as much the result of bad negotiations on Siena's part. Especially since the AHL team departed, Siena hoop is the absolute key tenant to keep the arena going in the wintertime. The school could use that leverage to much better advantage, including somewhat lighter pricing and a higher cut of the revenue. (Admittedly, I have no knowledge of what the present arrangements are.)
