Where does this leave Sloan... Completely different players. Sloan is a skinny 3-point shooter with good size, probably playing as a stretch 4. Kyle is a sturdy post player and strong rebounder who will play the 5.

Just curious in a guard dominated league and when the game is getting totally away from players that live in the paint why was this guy such a priority? I’d muchrather have a couple of athletic 4’s on the roster like Franklin that can rebound and play facing up and get up and down the floor than a big that could take 2 years to develop. Sure he could turn out to be the next RyRo but there’s a greater chance he doesn’t....

Kyle fills that role where face up four doesn’t. Just an alternate devil’s advocate position.

What I do like after watching a few more clips is that I like his “blue collar” style of play. Maybe he could be more like a Steve McCoy type player (I see some similarities)....I certainly hope so!

If I read the TU article correctly (as I was tired when I read it), I thought he was quoted as saying something about he being JC’s first recruit in his class and that he was going to build the team around him for his next 4 years; or something like that. Therefore, the staff must see something in him that maybe some of us don’t.
So far, I have a blanket: “I love any and everything JC attitude”.
Let’s Go Saints!!!

Wow, tough crowd here. No one's a bigger recruiting snob then me, and even I think this is a great start to JC's first full recruiting class. To those saying should have waited or that this is a Patsos type recruit, what exactly are your expectations? How many impact big men can you name that came into the MAAC from day 1? That doesn't happen in this league. If you're 6'9 and are an impact player out of high school, you're choosing from among your several Big East and ACC offers.
This is the type of big man every successful coach at Siena has landed. Perhaps even ahead of where some of them were at the same point in theirs career. This dude is 6'9, 245. That's a college ready body right off the bat. Sure, he'll need some development. And he'll get that opportunity. You guys honestly think Siena is landing another Basabe type at this point?
This isn't a Patsos recruit. A Patsos recruit would be late into his senior year wirh no other division 1 offers when offered. Siena would be the only option. That's not the case here. He has a among others another MAAC offer and several Patriot League offers - a league that has had a better RPI than the MAAC on more than one occasion in the past few years. He's also committing before his senior year starts. The video you guys have been watching is of a 16 year old. You wait until during or after his senior year when he's newly featured in the offense, and there's a high likelihood Siena falls out of contention for him.
Impact guards are a lot easier to come by. But when it comes to big men, this is a good get for our level.

This young man reminds me of McCoy even as a high school jr. but seems to be a little faster than McCoy. He also has very good court awareness. That was also a major plus for Steve. I think he's a good recruit. Just hope he waits until he gets here before he blossoms.

When they start getting recruits that remind folks of Hasbrouck, Ublies, Franklin, Moore and Rossiter things will look up. Getting guys here is one thing, getting guys who can play is another. Let's hope these guys can play.

I didn’t hear JC got a lobotomy before he arrived on campus... he deserves the benefit of the doubt based on his past recruiting record and player development ... it also appears to me that some posters want to get a negative assessment “on the record” so they can play that card if recruit doesn’t work out ... doing this for every recruit will give them a perfect score on their ability to judge the “bad” ones ... never hear from them when they’re wrong.

Love that a 6'9" 245 pound kid wants to come play for a coach that is openly promoting that his team will be the best conditioned team in the country. I'm not expecting much in year one. We really need Sammy to develop and be able to hold down the center position his senior year so this kid isn't thrust into a 25 to 30 minute a night role right off the bat. But man, with four years of conditioning it could be a lot of fun to see what he could develop into.

I agree with the McCoy comparison as I indicated above, he does have a workman like skill to his game. There’s definitely a place for his skill set. With that being said I’m still a big proponent of athleticism you just can’t win without it at any level and it’s something we’ve lacked over the last several years ... bigtime! I think that’s where my apprehensiveness about Young (& Seymour)comes from....I still don’t think the roster is athletic enough as is.... Still thrilled with JC and staff, the critique stated earlier was just an observation. I agree coaches must see something valuable in both Kyle and Sloan’s abilities ..... looking forward to see who else we can land that will increase the athleticism of the program and move us forward into being a relevant program again! No doubt this staff understands Siena basketball .....

Let's see where we are this time next year with recruits. JC is putting in the effort. Effort doesn't always equal results. We definitely need more athleticism but Fran didn't score Alex and Edwin at this point in his Siena tenure. Additionally, I look at Hewitt's first year - that team needed athleticism but he made up for it by having his 6-10 players in the same condition as his 1-5 players so the drop-off when subbing was minimal. Sure, the strategy hit a wall vs the Razorbacks but other than that it was pretty good.
