6-9 big man from Bethlehem Catholic in PA. Staff watched him a lot this summer and we offered him the first day the new staff was there. Visited in June.
Offers from Marist, Wagner, Loyola, and other mid-majors. Solid start to the 2019 class.

Hard to tell a lot from his highlights, other than he's not a pogo stick but seems to have inside toughness and uses the glass well. Good size in a wide body. Welcome Kyle!!

Other than not being very athletic I really like everything I've seen on video. He is going to have a ton of rebounds, assists and and-1s. Seems like a great pick-up!

Just watched a full-length game of Young playing HS ball this season. He was playing against Abington, which features a Villanova commit big man and other D1 prospects. Wasn’t counting fully, but stats were around 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks off the top of my head.
Kyle certainly isn’t an explosive athlete, but he has very good shot-blocking instincts. He uses verticality well and times his jumps well. Had 2 more blocks that were waved off due to fouls that could have easily been called clean. Bethlehem Catholic switched between man and zone so I didn’t get much of a chance to see him defend in space.
Offensively, there wasn’t a ton to see. Bethlehem Catholic ran most of their stuff through his brother Ryan (a Northwestern commit) who has a much more complete offensive game at this point than Ryan. Kyle’s job was mostly to set good screens, fill the lane properly, and finish at the rim. He missed an early layup and a post touch, but overall the finishing was solid. He could go up a little stronger, but that will improve with time. He made a really nice pass from the high post (similar to several you see on the 5 min highlight reel linked at the bottom) and a solid one reversing the ball back out of the post. Forced one of those high post passes as well that resulted in a turnover.
Overall, Kyle is definitely a D1 player. He plays smart, will contribute defensively as a rim protector, and do the dirty work offensively. He makes sense as a big in Jamion’s system as long as he remains in shape, as he can anchor the press defensively and be solid without the ball on offense. I will be very interested to see what Kyle looks like offensively this season of HS ball, as I would imagine he’ll have a much bigger offensive role this year. The upside of this pickup is directly tied to whether he can develop into a offensive force.
This one is far from a program-changer, but it’s a solid start to this critical class. Time to get our PG of the future!

I’m gonna be honest here not in love with this kid. On the face of it, he looks like a Patsos type recruit. Looks less athletic than Fisher. If Patsos signed this kid (looks low major) there would be complaints all over the board. Gotta be fair.
Santos is a program changer who we desperately need.
Hope JC is right and the kid has something to offer but a major cog to build around IDK

One Indian stole my thoughts. Keeping my fingers crossed that we're wrong.

I should add that he does appear to be a fierce rebounder, which we haven't seen yet from Fisher.

I should add that he does appear to be a fierce rebounder, which we haven't seen yet from Fisher. From what I watched, he’s Evan Fisher athletically but unlike Evan, he knows his role and does all the things a big man is supposed to do. I’d be surprised if he’s ever an all-MAAC player but he can certainly play a role. The staff didn’t reall target any other centers... it’s been clear Young was our guy. The guards of this class will define us, and we are in good shape with Santos, Jameer Nelson, and others.

One Indian stole my thoughts. Keeping my fingers crossed that we're wrong. Time will tell on Kyle, but you guys have short memories- how often did JP sign a kid in early august for following year let alone a kid holding several other mid major offers. Kyle has a huge "upside" he has long arms, runs the floor very well and at time of those highlights was 16 years old. His brother signed with Northwestern a BG10 team. Kind of reminds me a heavier Ryan Rossiter in high school, tough nosed kid ( not very athletic) that ran the floor well and had long arms- nhot saying Kyle is next coming of RR- but damn you guys are tough crowd- I'm thrilled with this signing

That's what I'm hoping as well. We got the big man out of the way. Now we focus on guards/wings like Goldsaint said. Nelson and Santos would be two excellent additions and maybe even Mika Adams-Woods if he doesn't blow up. I'm not worried about the staff's recruiting they have a plan and will get plenty of talent.
