One Indian stole my thoughts. Keeping my fingers crossed that we're wrong. Time will tell on Kyle, but you guys have short memories- how often did JP sign a kid in early august for following year let alone a kid holding several other mid major offers. Kyle has a huge "upside" he has long arms, runs the floor very well and at time of those highlights was 16 years old. His brother signed with Northwestern a BG10 team. Kind of reminds me a heavier Ryan Rossiter in high school, tough nosed kid ( not very athletic) that ran the floor well and had long arms- nhot saying Kyle is next coming of RR- but damn you guys are tough crowd- I'm thrilled with this signing A couple points I'll to what Tony said: smart coaches recruit players who can excel in their system regardless of ranking, how they look on film, etc and; JC had a history of finding players that end up being coveted by bigger programs. With these considerations and what I saw on film I am happy to wait to see how this plays out. Another note, funny how there are parallels to Rossiter. I'll add one: both grew up with a brother who pushed them to be tough on the court. How many rebounds do you think kyle will lose if he gets his ha ds on the ball? From day one at Siena I bet there won't be many.

I’m gonna be honest here not in love with this kid. On the face of it, he looks like a Patsos type recruit. Looks less athletic than Fisher. If Patsos signed this kid (looks low major) there would be complaints all over the board. Gotta be fair. Santos is a program changer who we desperately need. Hope JC is right and the kid has something to offer but a major cog to build around IDK Wrong. If this was a Patsos type recruit he would have either had no offers, come from a buddy’s AAU program or signed two weeks before school started.

Let's be clear. Noone is bitching about this commitment but expressing some guarded optimism and while it may be a good get, we beat out only teams arguable ranked lower than Siena. Success in this case may be a year or two away.

While i appreciate your attempt at humor, if Patsos recruited this kid this place would have been up in arms! Lord knows I was no fan of Patsos but lets be honest here .....sure Patsos signed kids late and reached. This kid has the type of offers and looks (at least on video) like a Patsos type prospect. Sure he may turn out fine. I’m just looking at a few clips and his offers. Let’s see what the roster looks like in year 2. All I’m saying at first glance Young isn’t a difference maker type of player that’s gonna dig Siena out of a 8 year deep hole. I’m all in on JC it’s just after 8 years I want to see us get 1 or 2 higher profile/up kids. Not saying we should be consistently landing A10 kids but I’d like to see us get a few with stronger/better offers. I’m exercising caution with Young until I see different.

After going through the past 8 years Siena has a traumatized fan base ... every recruit is suspect ... hopefully after this year we’ll all be cured

After going through the past 8 years Siena has a traumatized fan base ... every recruit is suspect ... hopefully after this year we’ll all be cured No some of these guys don’t know Siena’s place in College basketball, they think Siena should be beating out A10, C-USA schools for every kid. They all think they are college evaluators. While Kyle doesn’t jump thru roof, he does run the floor extremely well( he doesn’t have those thick slow feet you saw from most of JP’s bigs) he has long arms and a nose for the ball, while Siena didn’t beat out big names from this kid, Kyle did have offers from 7 other D1 schools and interest from another dozen or so. Marist announced Kyle was a priority recruit for them. JC isn’t pals with Kyles high school or AAU coach, he beat out the other schools the old fashioned way with hard work, entire staff was front and center at all 3 of Kyle’s live events this July - Kyle is having a big summer- do a little research on him. 6’9” kids that can play don’t usually last long- to land this kid in a competitive situation on August 3rd is nothing short of phenomenal. I’m not saying this kid is a sure fire star- but our staff sure likes him and made him a priority- that should tell you something, these guys are proven recruiters. Again I’m thrilled with this commitment

Tony saying he is "thrilled" with our getting a recruit made me weep for joy! In JC I trust!

Don’t pay that much attention to recruiting but I always like recruits that are primary targets. If they prioritized him enough to follow him all summer, then I like the signing. The Siena coaches tweets around the signing seem to show guys that are excited by the signing.

Glad to get this recruit this early- big men are tough to find, but I feel that Jimbob would have not got a kid this early in the signing period.
Christian needs to prove he can coach this year and next year with not superbly talented kids as critics would say and get success- then the higher level recruits will start looking at Siena.
How did Fran get Basabe to commit to Siena? Prior success.
Patience, everyone, patience.

Not sure why we needed to offer so early on this kid. I am sure Kyle is a good kid who will work hard and will be all-in on whatever he is told to do.
Just dont see him being close to being an impact type player at this level which means we didn't need to offer so early on this one. Would have waited this out a bit to see what you might be able to get in the fall and if you lost him so be it.
That all being said, I have to put trust in Coach that whatever he sees in Kyle where he really must believe that he can be successful at this level is a correct evaluation so welcome aboard Kyle.
Would love nothing more than to see you prove me wrong. Hope you kill it when you get here. Good luck in your senior year. Work hard at improving your game every day! Go Saints!

Let me try one more time with you guys. If Siena waited, - last year his brother had a similar big summer and got several A10-CUSA offers in August and ended up in Big 10. Had Siena waited guaranteed the competition would have been much stiffer for Kyle once A10/CUSA lost out on some of their primary targets. This wasn’t a JP target that he had no competition for. Not only was he a primary target of Marist Kyle started getting interest from several high D1 teams after his solid performance in July evaluation period. Let’s get down to brass tacks- as far as I can recollect Siena has NEVER signed an ‘impact” player 6’9” or over in their history, they all took a year or two to develop. In the history of MAAC maybe a few no more than a handful of impact freshmen over 6”9”. So to say Siena should have waited for 6’9” or over impact player is not grounded in reality – 6’9” or over kids that can play immediately don’t fall down to MAAC level - so no it wouldn’t have got better in October it would have gotten worse. (as far as big men go). Siena is losing Evan Fisher and Kevin Degnan. We needed another big desperately. The hardest players to sign at the MAAC level are bigs, especially kids 6’9” or over. To get this done in early August is phenomenal. Kyle is 6”9” tough, nose for ball, has long arms and runs floor well. He has potential to eventually be a good to very good MAAC level player. To those that think Siena should have waited do a little research on how many impact 6”9” or over freshmen have ever signed in the entire history of the MAAC- after that exercise you may be a bit happier. I’m sure you guys were upset when Fran signed a 6”9” 190lb Ryan Rossiter that couldn’t jump.( who avg 1.9 ppg his freshman season) Talk about a tough crowd- some of you guys need a reality check, Siena is in the MAAC not the Big East JC has 3 ships left for 2019- he is off to great start with Kyle Young signing. Jalen Pickett already on board, potential ALL MAAC type player Donald Carey at Siena and will play next year. Kyle Young is the Center in Siena’s future. At the MAAC level you can get impact players at the 1-2-3 and even sometimes the 4. This staff has worked their tails off all summer. The talent level at Siena is being upgraded right before your eyes, I’m extremely confident in the recruiting of this staff, these guys know what they are doing and have a plan to do it Welcome to Siena Kyle Young, I look forward to following your career over next 5 years- his senior season at High school and 4 years at Siena
