Coach Christian certainly handled the media end of the business as a consummate professional. If all the other aspects of his skill set are comparable good things are coming.

Great interview. Jamion is wise beyond his 36 years. He is confident but is humble. He sets high expectations and has a vision. I have a very good feeling big things are ahead for Siena basketball in the next few years!

I have a very good feeling big things are ahead for Siena basketball in the next few years! He is amazing! Watching and listening to this man is unbelievable. He makes what he is doing look easy, and we all know it isn't. Who wouldn't want to be part of an experience that is based on so much positive energy. I don't know how long it will take to re-build our program but it certainly looks to be in the right hands!! GO SAINTS!!

Here is what I hear from coach over and over: build confidence, be prepared, have a plan, player centered, not coach centered, faith, caring about each other
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is about as big a turnaround as you can get - not a wise guy, not someone to treat reporters with disdain, someone who cares, who is proud of Siena, who is ready, who will put in the hours and hours and love every minute of it................
Siena has made some terrible coaching choices. Let's all agree, that they got this one right! Go Saints!

Siena didn't get Paul Hewitt back (who I irrationally wished for, but ya have to wonder did he have a hand in the end?) , and for all the world I see his "younger twin" (yeah I know twins are supposed to be the same age.) in that interview. JC looks to be nothing short of a home run hire.

First, what a great interview by Ian Pickus. Just a great job in listening and question asking skills in order to let the interview take on a natural flow to it. It felt like it was just a normal conversation happening between two guys talking hoop and not an interview. The questions and follow up questions being asked enabled Coach to run with it so that a 30 minute interview felt like a 15 minute conversation. Great job Ian!
Second, what a a great job by JC in answering these questions. In depth answers without any fluff to them while in the end, always getting back to answering the initial question. What a refreshing thing to hear from the interviews we have heard for the last five years. His use of language without constantly using filler words such as the word "like" make him an easy listen.
Most importantly, loved what the guy had to say within the fabric of information in his answers. If you are a fan of Siena Hoop how can you not be pumped up for the program after listening to an interview like that.
Could be the best pre-season interview ever by a Siena Coach! Really looking forward to October/November already. Go Saints!!!

Anyone have any observations to report from the meet and greet on Monday? Sorry I was not able to attend.

Two officials in the Athletic department indicate there. Was no meet and greet set for 30 July. They are hopeful to have something later in August, .Remember. Sienahoops.com is a good source of info. IT IS NOT OFFiICIAL. Any one can post and often the info has no basis in fact. Check with the Director of Athletics or the SID. Before you make plans

I stand convicted. Both the AD and SID purposefully misled me. Hangover from the Patsos era

The meet and greet was excellent! Coach Christian, his staff and his wife and son were all there; they were all socialable and mingled well and also open to (and direct in responding to) all questions. I was very impressed by Coach Christian, his energy, enthusiam and ability to clearly articulate his vision, plan and expectations were exceptional. He also has a excellent wit and sense of humor, poking fun at himself and the other coaches (e.g. stating that Carm M told him he was a "Siena legend"). In my opinion, he hit all the right buttons and seems like a truly impressive person.
A few quick highlights: Conditioning program went very well, good buy in by team (mentioned Sammy Friday specifically). He talked about the need for players to buy into the teams success and be willing to work hard towards it. He stated that the players should be having fun on the court and enjoy success. He wants to see smiles on the court. Gave more info about the Mayhem style and about Sienas ability to adopt that style. Directly answered a question about the 4 players who left; didn't dodge it at all. Stated all players will be here and eligible for the fall, including the kid from Romania. Spoke repeatedly about scouting teams and the use of data and analytics to scout the competition. Put on a high emphasis on knowing everything they can about opponents and their strenghts/weknesses and tendancies. He has a coach who will be the primary data analyst.
Well, thats probably enough for now, but in a nutshell, I was very impressed and glad I renewed my season tickets when JC was hired. Even though this year could prove challenging in respect to wins and loses, I am certain that he has the team on the correct path and that they will be much better prepared and play a more entertainilng style of ball. Oh, I should also mention that there was no mention of a "5 year plan", only talk of improvemet and winning the MAAC!

Oh, I should also mention that there was no mention of a "5 year plan", only talk of improvemet and winning the MAAC! Excellent post. Just want to add, JC did clarify after saying all are eligible to state MSM’s transfer Carey has to sit out the year (playing wise) but JC views Carey as like having another Assistant coach, in that, he knows the system having played and can answer players questions/concerns/etc.. Some asked JC about how Jimmy’s recruits (who weren’t recruited for JCs Mayhem style of play) will fit in or how JC views them and their abilities (something like that). JC stated that Mayhem isn’t as much as physical abilities but rather a philosophy or mentality (meaning playing and trusting each other as a team, and other analogies). Basically, everything he said was of a positive nature whenever talking about the players. I really like this coach and believe he could be as successful (at Siena) as a Mike, Paul and/or Fran. I’m only hoping we can hold onto him for at least 4-5 years.
