These kids, while under the previous "coaching" style, have all showed us flashes of solid play despite the limitations put on them by Oh-no. It is clear that JC's first priority it to remove the mayhem that had been stagnant on our sidelines and shift it to the floor. Someone has already posted that the flurry of new talent had a NEC "look" - what must be considered is that JC was recruiting for a conference champion known and feared for its Mountain Mayhem style of play. Molding those pieces into the remnants at Siena will give us a much more exciting team and each of our returning players will get the chance to play an uptempo (enter KK) style that I'm sure they would prefer and flourish under. I'm psyched! Can't wait to see some summer pickups that hopefully give a glimpse into the mayhem coming our way...

Nico must show self discipline both on and off the court. And put the “team” first!

I have no reason not to trust our new coach's judgment on Nico or anything else, at this point. If he feels Nico can contribute and fit in nicely to the team concept, I'm all in.

Nico and all the Siena players should be looking at how the Boston Celtics are playing. Since Kyrie Irving went down..they have been putting the team first and winning!

Assuming Horn and Oduro are definitely gone, JC will have to pick up another shooter and a big man or two to replace them. His offers so far seem to reflect his realization of that need. If they can add Clareth to that mix, I think there would be enough on hand to keep Siena out of the PIG. Penn and Clareth would make for a pretty good MAAC backourt, with what they have at the 3, 4, & 5 being the concern. JC is going to need two full recruiting classes to truly turn this thing around. But there might be enough to at least be competitive. Had they held on to Horn and Oduro, I'd say mid-pack could have been a realistic goal. I would welcome Clareth back. I don't know exactly what went on with him, but given the ridiculous amount of players to transfer out of this program under Patsos (including entire recruiting classes), I think it's fair to speculate that part of the problem was because of the former coach. I'd like to see Clareth get another go at it with that irritant removed. JC and Clareth know each other - I think he recruited him in the past. I think it would be a much more healthy and productive relationship.

each of our returning players will get the chance to play an uptempo (enter KK) style that I'm sure they would prefer and flourish under. I'm psyched! Curious why you say that. Christian's offense the last four years at MSM was not uptempo at all - either in OOC games or in league play. In fact, last year they ranked 310th in the nation in length of offensive possessions and were 291st the year before. It would have been even slower if it weren't for a number of steals that led to quick baskets. It is certainly possible that he will change that slow-paced style as time goes by, depending on his personnel, but I think it is far from a given that you will see an uptempo style this year. I watched MSM play a number of times over the past few years and never saw a fast-paced offense - despite their having some good talent which included a very fast and very good PG. One other thing. Various articles and posts have linked him a lot to Shaka Smart, whom he worked under for 9 months. But the coaches he worked/played under for longer periods were all proponents of a slow-paced offensive style. That would be Pat Flannery (Bucknell), Tony Shaver (W&M), Jim Phelan (MSM), and Milan Brown (MSM). At the end of the day, he will do what he thinks will give him the best chance to win, but all of these coaches had some influence on him.

Mayhem = uptempo in my book - that may not equate using the technical definition of tempo (reason I included the little "enter KK" quip, LOL) but it works for me...

Kids should decide if Nico is allowed back on the team. He left them high and dry twice, not the new head coach.

It's a big gamble to think that because the Twitter handle has taken on some modicum of humility, everything else will follow.

The speculation is over. Nico just posted on twitter that he will NOT be returning. I wish him the best wherever he winds up

Nico on twitter...I gave this gold and green everything I have. This is one of the hardest decisions I have ever made. Forever grateful for the opportunity, but it’s time to move on from here. Siena... I love you ❤️

per Mark...Nico Clareth spoke to Jamion Christian: "That is a good dude right there. I really believe he is going to turn this thing around. He's a down to earth, genuine, really a great guy. I could tell from one conversation. It just felt it was time for me to move on. Siena has my love."
