With all due respect, I'm going to throw my lot in with the actual Department of Ed website this info may be slightly outdated. That's fine. It all comes down to how the money was allocated to get the budget. In MSM's case, they had to play a bunch of guarantee games and only got 3 or 4 home OOC games per year. That puts a team/league at a disadvantage. Personally, when looking at this coach, I personally think how his teams fared in the NEC is more important that overall results. His teams competed at a high level against like competition, which resulted in 2 NCAA tourney bids. He'll need to step up the recruiting a bit in the MAAC but has some pretty good selling points at Siena. I expect he will do well.

I agree...he's got tools in his tool-belt on the recruiting trail that he's never had at MSM. I was just digging into the stats and numbers some more...wow the TUC is costing Siena a fortune. In the 2016/2017 season Sienas game day operating expenses for the year totaled 1.22 million of your budget...WOW! That's 39% of your MBB budget...

But how much of it comes back as Revenue? 5000 paying seats at $10 per seat x 15 games would exqual $750,000. not sure what the actual number of sold tickets was per game (closer to 6k for that year I believe) and the average ticket is probably higher than $10. Also, does not take into consideration all the corporate and advertising dollars.

Without a clear picture it's tough to tell what methodology the department of Ed is using but on the revenue side they are reporting a revenue of 3.1million. I'm sure there is clever accounting going on where expenses and revenue are a wash...but would have to believe that attendance and advertising is accounted on the revenue side.

The options are that or the debt service that comes with building an on campus arena. Either way, a program needing a facility large enough to house a fan base the size of Siena's is going to incur some higher costs than those programs only needing small gyms.
