Guys, the TUC was DEAD for most of the last 4 years. Bringing all the fans together instead of spreading them out across 2 decks makes a lot of sense. You can move the tarps pretty quickly if demand spikes.
This isn’t rocket science.

I hope they reconsider. This is not a smart decision. After so much turmoil they needed to take an inclusionary approach, not an exclusionary one. When Hewitt was here fan interest quickly exploded, which will not be possible under the current arrangement., also it will be even harder to convince programs with large fan bases to come here. My guess is that it maybe only for one season. I don’t know if JC was also on board for this decision but I know I’ve heard him say Mayhem works real good when the crowd gets into it (I’m guessing the closer the crowd is to the court the better/louder to help the team and the Mayhem). Besides wouldn’t a packed lower bowl not only look better on TV but for also to prospective recruits? While it might not be ideal for some fans, it might be better in the very short term to the team/program. I’m willing to give it a try.

IS - while I agree that the atmosphere might be better, the end zone seats aren't as good as center-upper. If you've had seats you've liked for years and are told you need to move to lower-level end zone it could be a real turn-off. While the atmosphere needs to improve they also shouldn't be alienating the base. The route to improving the atmosphere is winning and selling more tix.

I don’t disagree that some may feel alienated, for what ever reason. If I had center section upper deck season tickets and then was told that I had to move to lower level in the corner or end zone I know it wouldn’t like it. As for feeling alienated that’s a choice of the person in control of their own feelings (how to perceive it). As a Siena fan (who’s obviously wired different than most, and as with the past 8 seasons) I try to find the good in continuing to be a supportive Siena fans even if it means going against my other Siena fans to put the program first. If this means Siena believes this is best for the program at this time, we’ll then do so I. I truly believe Siena is making this decision “not” to piss off fans or “harm” the program; I truly believe they believe this is what’s best at this time. So I’ll just continue to support their decisions. Who knows, maybe TUC raised their rental prices w/Siena and this is a temporary cost cutting move until the fans base starts attending again. I have no idea but I’ll continue to support my favorite team/program; no matter what. That’ll always be my common theme. So I understand everyone has their opinions and mine may not agree with others and of course they can voice there’s; but so can I. I love this country! We can all speak our minds and explain why we do what we do.

Did they actually relocate season tix holders who held seats upstairs or are they just not selling individual game tix upstairs? If they aren’t actually tarping off the upper court side I don’t see what would stop you from sitting there and relocating after buying rear lower bowl.

The biggest issue I have is the “sell out”. Just watch when we start getting on a roll this season and more than 7,160 want to show up but can’t.

If they ever turn someone away at the door that ventured out and dealt with parking on a cold night downtown because they sold out all 7,160 tickets in a 15,000 seat arena then that will be a worse decision than hiring Mitch.

They can and will, just like they did the last time. But then again, they hired patsos so it shouldn’t be surprising

Let’s get a grip we went over the 7k attendance twice not counting UA game last season and that was ANNOUNCED attendance which we all know is inflated anyway...
If you want to argue that upstairs courtside is better seating i get it....but I’m not sure they even displaced any upstairs tix holders...
If you want to argue 7200 tix isn’t enough and we run the risk of sell outs that’s just ridiculous talk ....

I'm saying that turning people away at the door when you have 8,000 empty seats is an asinine idea and will turn fans away permanently. That is separate from the almost as asinine policy of forcing people from their midcourt seats in the upper deck to sit in the corner of the lower deck instead. At least with the latter I can understand the rationale, turning people away is just plain dumb.

After 10 years my upper level were changed to the bottom, still good seats but less leg room.

I know I’ve used this example/story in the past; the area at Harbor Yard (Fairfield) turned us away when we wanted to purchase MAAC Tournament ticket for the session prior to ours (when there was only like 29 mins left before everyone would get kicked out to allow reentry for next session). We simply wanted to get out of the cold and they initially turned down the sale. Eventually security can and allowed my elderly Mom access to the inside warmth (w/o having to purchase a ticket).
I reiterated the insane way of running a business of refusing to see a session ticket so late in that session. They should have said he’ll yes I’ll sell you a full priced ticket for only 20 mins of time. That’s from an arena that was far from being sold out.
Now THAT’s insane.
I get that Siena reducing steam size, displacing long time fans and/or turning away potential fans from purchasing tickets when it’s “sold out” may not be a popular subject for some fans. I’d be upset too if I was displaced or turned away for being sold out but I can at least control the being turned away part by the fact I already have season tickets.
I still highly doubt Siena is doing this to piss off fans, rather I’m sure there’s a reason for it (be it financially or they believe it’ll increase fans for next year); I don’t know and we may never know. I just know I’m going to continue supporting them anyway because I want to go to the games.

Last 3 seasons there have been a total of 43 home regular season games.
23 times we were under 6,000 in attendance, at an average of 5,383.
11 times we were between 6,000 and 7,000 tickets sold, at an average of 6,451 still well below capacity.
9 times we eclipsed 7,000 with 2 of the 9 being Albany games.
So we are now discussing 7 times in 3 years. Those 7 averaged 7,458 fans.
I think Siena & the TUC are simply making a calculated gamble based on expectations for the season and the home schedule not being incredibly attractive that they won't approach a sell out this year.
