The first hurdle has been cleared in that JP is gone; next the staff needs to be turned over; specifically, 1, 2 and DOBO need to go sooner rather than later.
But lets start listing positives: - we have several interesting candidates that are ready, willing and hungry seeking out the opportunity we can give them - we have kids that did not bail when the seas got rough and the Captain of the titanic went down - we have a great resources for the right person to come in here and get us back afloat and headed toward the goal of returning to the NCAA tournament
There is a lot of work to be done, what can we do at this point?
Remain positive, but firmly state to the current administration that another gaff like the last two IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. WE are the FAN BASE and we have proven that the majority will GO ELSEWHERE unless things are managed with an eye on growth and development, not haphazard misguided direction or decisions that are not well thought out and managed when they are obviously headed in the tank.
If your dollars are supporting this program, and most of us either haven't stopped or are staring up again with HOPE, then do so. Admit that mistakes have been made but insist on MOVING FORWARD.
I'm not advocating that everyone should become a pollyanna. Those of you that know me know that I will lay the truth out there. But if we want a change, we too have to change our FOCUS to WHAT WE HAVE and WHAT WE THINK IT COULD BE going forward.
The person that gets the HC position will need all the support he can get (still pisses me off that I won't live to see a woman give it a go, but I digress). If the work ethic and respect isn't there, or it isn't working then this administration needs to ensure that they have a way OUT before we head DOWN. That's on them so they better be damn good and ready next time because we have just come out the other side of sinking to the bottom of D1.

Another good post GB, don’t let it go to your head....laughing.
All kidding aside, I wish we knew who was interested and who is not. All speculation on the posters here. Great fun and debate though.
Whoever receives the nod we should support, get behind them and the school. That’s not to be construed that changes need to be made elsewhere moving forward. Only hope for th best.

olddave: Trust me when I tell you Beilein is interested and his father is interested in him getting the position; the rest I would be speculating. I am not seeing Becker take an intermediate step from UVM to Siena to a big job....just a hunch. I am pretty sure Beilein is intelligent enough to figure out his recruiting strategy at Siena would need to be altered (DAD can help here, as I am guessing he didn't have a host of JUCOs and transfers at Canisius...) Other than Becker, he is the only one that I know of on the list with HC under his belt, albeit D2. I saw Coach Carmen Maciariello on some lists but alas, I think timing is again not on his side here. Love him to death but the fact that this has to be hit out of the park is working against him. GMAC is definitely IMHO not ready for primetime.

Like Ken you hope the kids that have endured the travesty of this season are cared for. Don’t care if they are D1 level or as some suggest high level D2. If they can’t make the grade under the new coach make sure they land on their feet somewhere. Seem to be all good young men, never heard of any challenges. And they put up with the BS of the program.

I think just the feeling of "hope" starts the process of fans healing and gets people excited again. Hopefully the Siena administration learned all they needed to know during the debacle of the Patsos regime. They have to see that willing to go half-assed gets you just that or worse. There was nothing worse as a fan to know your coach could'nt care less to do his job until pressured too and at rock bottom by an administration who helped foster that situation by rewarding it. Patsos was the ultimate used car salesman and did more damage to the program than any previous coach, who would have thought that the day he was hired. Patsos's tenure summed up in a nutshell: www.nycbuckets.com/2014/04/cbi-title-jimmy-patsos-siena/One thing that won’t be a question mark next season is the support from the Siena fans, who drew 2,788 to the ARC on Saturday, even with $36 ticket prices. Even in the down seasons, Siena is the MAAC leader in attendance, and drew an average of 7,626 just three years ago. With the MAAC Tournament returning to the Times Union Center beginning next season, the road to the MAAC title will go through Albany for the foreseeable future. Well, not the immediate future, “I need a little vacation, take it easy over there,” Patsos said. “How about a little golfing, hit the ball in the woods a little bit and relax?” He’s earned it.

He appears in just about every list I’ve seen of top assistants due an HC gig. I believe someone posted here that he is very interested. I keep waffling back and forth as to who is at the top of my list back between these 3🤔

That's why I'm not afraid of a guy that wants to move up. Actually, I welcome it. Give Siena a strong 4-6 years and pick another good coach. Embraced that. Forget trying to get a Mark Few or Bob McKilliop it's so rare there's only two guys to name! I want a grinder, a motivate guy who wants to become a head coach in the ACC or Big 10. Mitch and JP would have been happy to retire at Siena. I will say Mitch worked hard he just could not get enough top players or coach. JP was an average coach who put very little effort into recruiting. Next coach has to recruit like a demon. His bench coaching will be important but it's really about the players. I want a great recruiter. If we need the head coach to hire a top assistant to help in game planning that's fine. Tonight was the women's banquet I wonder if anyone went that can share any rumors they heard there? Very excited to get this coach named (but getting the right guy) and get him out on the recruiting trail ASAP.

What I meant by an "anthem" is a motto, a song that represents the ideals of a group of people; an uplifting song .."I believe we'll be okay"

I’ve been saying all along “We’ll Be Okay” and now I know I was right. Just have to keep the Siena faith and continue supporting the team; no matter what.
