why? you realize how much of a pussy move that is right? How else would he justify his BS mantra that Albany only wins when Siena has a bad coach...like those wins should be worth a half a win or something. For his next act he'll tell us how Albany only wins when they have better players. Which for almost a decade has been true pretty much across the board. Siena will only play UA again when they have a new coach, have brought in a few 3-star kids, they control all ticket sales and UA can't use a locker room. then and only then will MTS allow this game to continue.

TU story this am said Cremo had only two courses remaining and will take them this summer to graduate. I know many, many, students, including myself, that didn't finish all course requirements in four years and that didn't play D1 sports! I'd say Mr. Cremo was a very, very good student despite minor slams from the uninformed on this board... Don't forget these student-athletes load up on summer courses. If they take two or 3 courses a summer, the credits add up quick. And if he had any credits coming into college (even if he had 3 or 6 credits) that puts them way ahead and why he is graduating or has the ability to graduate in 3+ years. Good for him... very strange for them both to bolt as "juniors" but they have their reasons. Again, Nichols isn't much of a surprise I don't think. Hoopjunkie alluded to why. Cremo is a bit more shocking but if you look through the prism that he want's to taste the NCAA...Albany's roster next year would have been Cremo, Campbell who's probably better in a reserve role and 5 freshman, highly touted but still freshman. He may have looked at his chances to dance and said it's going to be a rebuilding year.

so how did a "poor" student graduate in 3 years? interesting Come on Click! what's the scoop? There is no scoop...not sure why people are denigrating Cremo. The kid was named to the All Academic team this year...where did this notion of him being a bad student come from? americaeast.com/documents/2018/3/1//2017_18_AE_MBB_Awards.pdfI'm not denigrating him-i was quoting someone else who seemed to have insider knowledge. I thought there might be more to the story that you'd be privy to, seeing as you are the knowledgable guy about all things UA

I thought there might be more to the story that you'd be privy to, seeing as you are the knowledgable guy about all things UA Reference my earlier post for why I think Cremo is leaving. It also further sheds light on the comment in TU that Bye made where he said Cremo has done all he could at UA. Reality is UA is losing due to graduating and departures half of the team and remaining players are all first year players and Campbell plus the JUCO they just signed. Joe must have looked at that and said this is my last go-around...

Not sure how i feel about a kid bolting on his program.... there are 100 reasons why kids leave, or take their 5th year elsewhere, but Joe leaving because his team won't be very good is probably one of the worst ones, IMO.

Cremo was named to the all academic team and has a GPA of close to 3.5 if I'm not mistaken. Yes, both of them are graduating and will transfer as grad students and not have to sit out. There was speculation on Nichols as he is extremely bright in the class room and has a GPA of 3.9. He's not a shock and as you say; the situation with him in the locker room was a mess. Two different assistant coaches that had access to his HS transcripts said he was an average student at best. Maybe you think it's normal for a kid to graduate college in 3 years. Dummy that I am, would put it in the 5% range.

OBTW, many kids, once they get to college do better or much better than they did in high school - don't be so God damn defensive - you have erasers on all your pencils, just like the rest of us. I would also guess that an "average student" at CBA is a better student than the average at say, Albany High - just a guess but last time I checked, you don't take entrance exams to get into public schools. Athletes get ahead of their classmates due to summer sessions which they take to enable them to continue to workout and condition with their teams. Freshman are required to be enrolled in a class BEFORE they can do anything with the new team - hence they take summer classes right away...

As long as you are taking 5 classes a semester during the season, you should have a decent chance at graduating in 3 years (Cremo needs 2 summer classes to graduate). Think about it, he’ll likely have taken 2 classes over the summer each of the last 3 summers plus this coming summer, overall totaling 8 additional classes (almost an entire year of extra coursework). If this was something they were shooting for all along (don’t take fewer classes during basketball season and a school like Albany with more online classes certainly makes that easier to do) depending on your major graduating in 3 should be at least attainable even if you aren’t that smart a kid.

Id like to see the percentages. I think it's very abnormal, and it's not uncommon for athletes to only take 4 classes a semester to ease their load from Sept-May. Make it up with 2 summer classes to get back on track. Q-Cremo is out of the program mid-May correct? So I'm assuming he ll have to pay for any remaining classes needed to make his power 5 dream come true?!

But if you take the 5th class you’d be in good shape. Also depends on what you are doing with your advisor. If you go in from day 1 with a plan for your major and take the required classes, you can do it. Most don’t because most are always planning to take 4 years to graduate. Then they realize maybe they are a semester early so they either speed up and try to squeeze it all in or they take fun classes/add minors etc. And yes, you’d think he’d be on the hook for the final 2 classes, probably will cost about 1,000 bucks a class I would guess.

Too bad for UA I can see fans being upset but I don’t begrudge the kids for wanting to play up, test their ability and possibly have a crack at the tournament..it’s their last shot! Good for them...

Agree with 1I, why are we bashing kids that graduate in 3years and compete on the D1 level. They should be applauded for such accomplishment. On th other hand staff didn’t see this coming? That’s what reports make it sound like. Just wish the two of them good luck.
